Featuring the Sounds of Chamamé on September 7

Experience the captivating sounds of northeastern Argentina with acclaimed Argentine composer and accordionist Alejandro Brittes on Saturday, September 7, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Winchester Dondero Cultural Center, located at 3130 S. McLeod Drive. The trio of Brittes is composed of André Ely on 7-stringed Brazilian guitar, Carlos de Césaro on electric bass and contrabass, and Brittes on González system button accordion. Embarking on a musical voyage, the group delves into Brittes' chamamé heritage—an ancient rhythm that binds us to the Earth and the Universe through its captivating melodies. Commissioner Tick Segerblom sponsors this concert. Admission is free and open to the public.

Brittes was awarded the Best Musician award at the prestigious Cosquín festival in 1996 in Argentina with an original work and was also the winner of the Chamamé Festivel in Federal, Entre Ríos. In 2000, he belonged to the ensemble of the Mapuche singer and actress Luisa Calcumíl, recording on the album "La Cantora." In recent years, he produced and participated in the tour "80 anos" in the Brazilian states of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and Paraná. Brittes also did an extensive tour in the United States with more than 25 concerts in 2023, and at the start of 2024, he took part in one of the largest music fairs in the United States, APAP in New York City.

Brittes' concerts establish a connection with the earth, with the origins of his home region's music, and with the universe in primordial verticality. His trademark is to employ his accordion as if it were a bandoneón, which is the conversation between the left and right hands, ensuring that the instrument is utilized at its highest performance.
