Rainbow Company Youth Theatre, a city of Las Vegas program, will present the musical comedy “The Addams Family” Friday-Sunday, April 26-May 5, 2024. All performances will be held at Charleston Heights Arts Center, 800 S. Brush St.; the show is appropriate for ages 8 and older. Showtimes are 7 p.m. Friday/Saturday and 2 p.m. Saturday/Sunday. During the May 4 Saturday matinee, a sensory-friendly performance with American Sign Language interpreters will be offered. Individual show tickets are available now for $10; buy online or visit the arts center to purchase.
In the kooky, upside-down world of the Addams family, to be sad is to be happy, to feel pain is to feel joy, and death and suffering are the stuff of their dreams. Nonetheless, this quirky family still has to deal with many of the same challenges faced by any other family, and the spookiest nightmare faced by every family creates the focus of the musical -- the Addams kids are growing up. In one fateful, hilarious night, secrets are disclosed, relationships are tested, and the Addams family must face up to the one horrible thing they have managed to avoid for generations ― change.
Skip Galla Katipunan is directing the production. Hailing from Pennsylvania, Katipunan has 25 years of experience directing stage productions. Tim Warren is the music director; Kyrsten Harper is the choreographer. Of the 28-member cast ages 11-18, 14 of them are making their first appearance in a Rainbow Company production. Understudies for six of the principle roles will play their parts in at least one performance.
