(KLAS) — Construction-caused slowdowns are still happening along the I-15 around Tropicana Avenue, but slowly, they’re going away.
The ‘diverging diamond’ on the Tropicana bridge disappeared over a month ago, and the ‘hook ramp’ next to T-Mobile arena is open.
“Folks can access this ramp when you’re driving on northbound 15, you want to take the Frank Sinatra, route to get there,” Kelsey McFarland with the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) said.
She also added that the timing of the ramps opening wasn’t just luck, NDOT accounts for events taking place throughout Las Vegas. “We had to do some temporary stoppages for other major events and, maybe even pushed back closures for egress or ingress of events, and that that’s been a particular challenge for project managers,” McFarland said.
The ramp opening is a preview of what’s to come. In May, the major construction on I-15 and Tropicana should be completed, according to NDOT.
“You’re really going to see a lot of the impacts lifted by early to mid-May. That’s when we expect to see a lot of the interchange work completed,” McFarland said.
