A few months ago, an article appeared in the pages of this newspaper regarding the fact that the United States of America is the only country in the Universe without history.
It all started after the death of a man in Minneapolis, Minnesota by the name of George Floyd, and the subject of racism reverberated, and the removal or destruction of historic statues took immediate effect.
The very first one was Christopher Columbus, the one who discovered the Americas and who had absolutely no participation in the death of the man in Minnesota. All of a sudden and according to leftist Democrats, Columbus statues, after 515 years of his death, are not welcome in any public and/or government places because they discovered that he was racist; at least, according to Vice-President Kamala Harris, who apparently was absent from school during history classes.
Now, New York City will remove from City Hall a nearly two-hundred-year-old statue of Thomas Jefferson, a diplomat, lawyer, architect, philosopher, and Founding Father, the principal author of the Declaration of Independence, who served as the third president of the United States, only on the alleged grounds that he owned slaves, after 195 years of his death.
The removal of the Jefferson statue was ratified unanimously at a scheduled hearing of an 11-person committee called the Public Design Commission, hand-picked and appointed by New York Mayor Bill de
Blasio, who apparently was absent from school during history classes just as Kamala Harris.
Bill de Blasio, the same one that ran in the Democratic primaries for the 2020 presidential election and failed to qualify for the third round of primary debates. After suspending his campaign, he endorsed Bernie Sanders.
Democratic State Assemblyman Charles Barron in testimony to the commission and referring to the Jefferson statue said: “I think it should be put in storage, destroyed, or whatever.”
Adrienne Adams, a councilwoman from Queens and a long-time member of the NAACP, went even further at the hearing by saying: “Jefferson embodies some of the most shameful parts of our country’s history.”
The fact is that all those people forgot the freedom we had enjoyed in years past and erased history from all national schools. No wonder children go back and forth to school and learn nothing.
