In the Land of the Free… the Home of the Brave??? I don’t think so

My Point of View/By Rolando Larraz

Obama suck up to the dirty boots of Fidel Castro. Is that what we want our leaders to be?

Last Sunday, as I do every Sunday, I turned my television channel to Newsmax television. We have been subscribing to Newsmax Magazine for a very long time; they used to be only a fifteen-page magazine, but now it is really well done with very good articles and is now ninety-eight glossy pages plus the cover and back cover.
This Sunday when I got home from my weekend out of town I stopped by the office and picked up my mail and there was my Newsmax Magazine, but I am getting off track.
When I want to talk about Dr. Sebastian Gorka, who has a television show called “The Gorka Reality Check,” I will watch him on TV. Last Sunday’s show was so educational that I couldn’t get out of my chair for the whole hour.
Every one of the guests were fantastic, from U.S. Rep. Devin Nunes to Congressional candidate Robby Starbuck, who spoke about communism without fanfare (“Just the Facts, m’am”), explaining the danger that we are all facing with the possibility of turning this great nation into a communist country as bad as Cuba or Venezuela.
The whole show was, as we believe we are, here at the Las Vegas Tribune, an eye-opener of what we may expect if the present
administration succeeds in turning the United States into a Communist nation; don’t make a mistake — socialism is only the living room to communism and too many of us living in this almost free nation are facing a very dangerous future.
Why? many of you may ask, and we have a very simple response. Many of us left our country running away from communism and this is the only country left begging the question of Where else could we go?
This is almost the only country left to which we can escape communism even if some countries use different names to disguise the horrific name that communism means to many of us and that is the reason that I have been doubling my efforts to open the eyes of my readers and anyone else who reads my column.
I could not paraphrase the dialogue between Representative Nunes and the show’s host, Dr. Gorka, because at my age memory fails sometimes, but I have to remind both of them and everyone that unfortunately the United States Congress has been known as a “pink Congress” due to its radical behavior.
Looking back now at how the United States behaved with their allies, we can remember when in the late ’50s the United States of America betrayed one of its more loyal allies, Gen. Marcos Pérez Jiménez, to facilitate a card-carrying communist, Romulo Betancourt, to take the reins of the beautiful and prosperous Venezuela.
Gen. Pérez Jiménez, a graduate of West Point and a friend and ally of this great nation, was arrested in Miami, Florida and placed in a regular cell with regular common criminals, disregarding several facts such as Pérez Jiménez was a business owner in the state of Florida and resident of that state since he was overthrown from his legit position as president of his own country.
Gen. Fulgencio Batista Zaldivar, until December 1958, was an ally of the United States and was even named Adoptive Son of Daytona Beach, Florida. General Batista — well, not really; it was the government of Cuba under the regime of General Batista — came to its neighbor and ally, the United States, to buy arms to fight the Fidel Castro gang, and after selling the guns to the government of Cuba, the United States confiscated all armaments and gave them to Fidel Castro by the Guantanamo Bay Base, the same base that the ungrateful Castro tried to take back from the same government that once helped him to rob the Cuban people of their beautiful and prosperous Island in the Caribbean.
Even most recently, the Cubans allied to Castro are seeing no problem with entering the United States; they are walking the streets of Miami with the blessing of the American Officials. Raul Castro’s daughter, Mariela Castro owns at least three houses that I know of in the Miami area, laughing at the thousands of real political exiles. Mariela visits the United States often on shopping trips to New York and California with the blessing of the American government — or worse, laughing at and snubbing the American officials.
Let’s not forget the infamous picture of Barack Obama kissing the bloody shoes of Fidel Castro (bloody with the blood of the many Cubans that he killed by firing squad); one of my father’s escorts who never did anything wrong — his job was to drive the station wagon to take and pick up the clothes from the dry cleaners and pick up the groceries at the supermarket — he didn’t even carry a gun, and for the simple reason of being working as part of my father’s staff, Fidel Castro took him to the firing squad without a hearing or a trial of any kind.
Is this what we want to happen here in this nation? In the Land of the Free… the Home of the Brave??? I don’t think so.
