Elisa “Cafetera” Cafferata: You’re Fired!

Last August Governor Steve Sisolak announced the appointment of a new acting director of Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR) hoping to help the staggering and “huge backlog of claims and to help get benefits out to claimants faster,” naming Elisa Cafferata, who was the deputy administrator for field operations in Nevada’s welfare division and came to  make  the  drama at the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation even worse.
Since Cafferata was named acting director of the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation, the “huge backlog of claims” no longer exists; it ended because no one else has been paid since she
took the reins of the DETR and the “help get benefits out to claimants faster” plan has no longer been needed because no one else has been paid, and it seems like the Cubans hired by the call centers that Governor Sisolak has contracted may be helping themselves to the money for the “huge backlog of claims” and “to help get benefits out to claimants faster,” so fast that no one else has been paid money that belongs to the people of the state of Nevada.
The Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation entertains the claimants by sporadically sending letters to those who are desperately waiting for their money stating that their “bank account number is wrong,” “their bank has rejected the direct deposit,” or “you have been overpaid and need to send the money back”
when in reality none of those have ever been paid a cent.
Cafferata and her team have made a mockery of the people of Nevada, but especially those who reside in the County of Clark because Clark County is not as lucky as Washoe County where they have brave attorneys that are not afraid of the governor and a judge that follows the law and they are civic enough to enforce it.
Cafferata needs to go; she must realize that she is not prepared to manage an institution like the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation where the livelihood of many citizens are at risk.
It is a wonder why the people of Clark County don’t have anyone speaking for them; we wonder where the local news media, and the Chambers of Commerce (Latin, Black Urban, and Asian) are; even Mi Familia Vota, and all the other civic organizations that are supposed to represent several parts of the melting pot that made Clark County the community they all claim it to be.
Where are those elected officials who are supposed to represent and protect their constituents? Where are those loudmouth radio talk-show hosts? Where is Veterans In Politics? No one comes to speak on behalf of the Clark County victims of Governor Sisolak, Cafferata and the rest of their clan.
If Elisa Cafferata is so inept that people working under her command are taking the money and she does not see it; if she is so blind that she cannot see that money from the state of Nevada, money that is under her command, is being sent to the neighboring state of the Republic of California; if she is not intelligent enough to realize that 27 people cannot live in a one-bedroom apartment, she not only does not deserve to be in charge of a large and important enterprise such as the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation, and definitely should not ever accept such a responsibility.
If Governor Steve Sisolak is so blind or so politically obligated to Elisa Cafferata that even knowing that she was not qualified for the job he still appointed her, he should be fair to the people of Clark County now that he sees what’s going on and fire her.
However, if she is so vain and greedy that knowing she was not capable of handling a job of that magnitude she still accepted that responsibility, we the people of Clark County should bypass the inept governor and demand that Elisa Cafferata be fired and name her the “cafetera” of the people of Clark County.
We, the people of Clark County, should gather on behalf of all of us and say, “ELISA CAFFERATA, YOU ARE FIRED!” then do it.
