Escape into Xavier Mortimer’s Magical Dream at Ballys” By Sandy Zimmerman

I was invited to review Xavier Mortimer’s Magical Dream” at the celebration of his 1,000th show.

Mortimer’s unique style of magic does not feature the usual tricks of other

magicians as he creates a mysterious dream-like atmosphere! We are in Mortimer’s dream, a wild dream that shows many of his multiple talents as he quickly switches from magic to uncanny mind reading, juggling, acrobatics, and even a little dancing. He does it all!

You have a chance to dream with Xavier Mortimer when he asks the audience to tell him their dreams. This hilarious interchange involves the entire audience.

During one amazing part of the show, Mortimer jumps rope about 5 feet above the stage
and even though I was in the first row still couldn’t see any attachments.

As Xavier Mortimer’s magical dream is the title of his show, we are allowed to enter Mortimer’s dreams and meet Belle, his dream girl- Allie Sparks, a magician, contortionist and part of the love story line. When Mortimer saw Allie perform magic, he asked her to join his show where they fell in love and now are both involved in his comical routines. Allie magically makes Mortimer disappear, displays her own magic talent and performs a breathtaking contortion lying on her stomach twisting her body into a circle. In addition to experiencing an exciting show, this is a beautiful love story of two people who work together to please audiences.

Xavier Mortimer has appeared in more than 30 countries and most recently starring in Cirque du Soleil’s acclaimed show Michael Jackson One, Mortimer marks the first Cirque performer to launch a headlining residency on the Las Vegas Strip. The show – Xavier Mortimer’s Magical Dream – is unlike any other in Las Vegas. Along with his unconventional cast of characters, spectators will be amazed by how the magic poetically unfolds through more than 14 acts in this wild dream. With the wonder of Mary Poppins, the theatrics of Charlie Chaplin, and an array of talents unique to Mortimer himself, this all-ages production transcends what you thought you knew about entertainment. At once funny, daring, inspirational and immersive, Xavier Mortimer’s Magical Dream is the key that opens the door to a hidden world of magic you never knew you were missing.
