Clark county fire department to the rescue!

On Sunday, December 11th, 2022., at approximately 6:38 PM, the Combined Communications center received a call for
smoke filling an apartment at 8985 S Durango Dr. Clark County fire department units were dispatched. The caller was
advised to evacuate the apartment. While enroute to the incident, units were updated that there was a history of fires in
the wall of this building. The first arriving engine found a two-story apartment complex with light smoke showing from the
exterior of the involved building. Command was established and the crew pulled hose lines for fire attack. While
completing a 360 of the building, the crew found fire presenting from behind the external electrical panel and
extinguished it. As additional units arrived, they were assigned to the front and back of the building, to the roof, the
involved unit, and surrounding units. There was no extension to other units, no injuries and primary and secondary life
searches were clear. The cause of the fire was identified as an electrical short in the within the wall. The damage
estimate is $30,000. In all, 6 engines, 2 trucks, 2 rescues, 2 battalion chiefs and the heavy rescue responded to this
incident, for a total of 42 personnel.
