To Join Youth Conservative Council

Southern Nevada High school students interested in exploring the challenges and solutions of water sustainability are invited to join the Youth Conservation Council (YCC). Registration for the 16-week community service program is open now through Jan. 6.

Presented by the Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA) and the Springs Preserve, the YCC—formerly the Youth Advisory Council—exposes students to the many academic and professional disciplines that support water sustainability and ensure a reliable water source for our community’s future.

The program runs from January through April and includes a mix of weekly in-person and virtual after-school meetings, access to leading experts in various fields of natural resource management, field trips to the Springs Preserve, Las Vegas Wash and the River Mountains Water Treatment Facility, and the planning and hosting of the Springs Preserve Earth Day events.

Students participating in the YCC will earn community service hours for all time spent in the program and will gain experience in an extracurricular activity that demonstrates leadership and a dedication to solving real-world problems with a regional impact.

For more information and to enroll in the YCC program, visit springspreserve.org and be sure to follow the Springs Preserve on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram.
