Frierson Appointed Deputy County Manager


The Clark County Commission today unanimously ratified the appointment of Abigail “Abbie” Frierson as the Deputy County Manager overseeing social services.

Frierson, appointed to the position by Clark County Manager Kevin Schiller, is a “seasoned and innovative public administrator with 12 years of Clark County service in the Department of Family Services, the Clark County District Attorney’s Office, and the Clark County Public Defender’s Office,” Schiller said. “Mrs. Frierson will be an asset as we continue to move forward with innovative practices and provide services to the most vulnerable in our community.”


In her new role, she will oversee Family Services, Social Service and the Public Defender’s Office.


Frierson, who began her employment with the County in May 2007, was most recently an assistant director in Family Services, overseeing about 300 employees and driving organizational performance improvement through employee engagement, the effective use of data, and collaboration with

community partners.


She has been licensed to practice law in the state of Nevada since October 2007 with expertise in child welfare law, criminal law, and employment and labor law. Frierson starting working for Clark County in May 2007. She was employed as a Children’s Attorney Project attorney with Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada from July 2010 through June 2013.


“I am thrilled to take on this new position as Clark County continues to lead in advocating, protecting, and caring for our most vulnerable populations,” Frierson said. “I will build upon the partnerships already forged while identifying new ways to serve the residents of our community, and in doing so will leverage the talent of some of our most dedicated public servants, our Clark County employees.”


Frierson has a juris doctor from Washington and Lee University School of Law and a bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature from the University of California, Berkeley.
