Former City Councilman Bob Beers want to be back to Las Vegas City Council

Bob Beers, a former Nevada State Senator, 1999 – 2008 and Las Vegas City Councilman from 2012 – 2017, plans to run for the Las Vegas City Council, in Ward 4. Beers, a certified public accountant, and experienced public office holder understands budgets and how governments should use them to govern their activities.
Bob Beers has been known to many as a “taxpayer hero” by fighting government waste. “I feel the time is right for me to return to the City Council, as the city faces some difficult days ahead. I believe my years of government experience and sensible approach are needed now more than ever,” stated Beers.
Beers warned city officials of Badlands Golf Course potential financial disaster “After an exhaustive review of historical records and the law,” Mr. Beers wrote in a 2019 Review-Journal op-ed on the property, “both the city attorney and the Planning Department agreed that the land was still zoned residential from the last action the City Council took.
Yes, it was 20 years ago and all the council members at that time are no longer serving. But zoning, once granted, doesn’t change.” In 2021, the Review-Journal went on to say, “Had the city listened to Mr. Beers, it wouldn’t be in this mess.”

Businessman In addition to his public service, Beers has started companies specializing in auditing small public companies and PC-based computer accounting software, melding his early fascination with technology and new mastery of accounting principles and techniques. Beers earned his accounting degree from UNLV.
Educator As a founding volunteer, Beers helped start Founders’ Academy charter school, still going strong. (https://www.fcalv.net/). Beers served as board treasurer for the first two years.
 Family Band  Bob and his wife live in Sun City Summerlin. Junior high school sweethearts (at Cashman Jr. High), they have been married almost 40 years and have two children. Bob moved to Nevada with his parents at age 11. His father worked at the Nevada Test Site, while his mother taught for a few years before earning an advanced degree from UNLV and becoming a Certified Marriage and Family Therapist. Bob graduated from Clark High School with honors in 1977.
Former Journalist In 1980, Bob Beers left UNR’s school of journalism to become the youngest radio news director in the history of the state. Beers went to work at KLUC and KMJJ radio in Las Vegas, where, in 1982, he won “Best Miniseries” and “Best Newscast” awards from the Associated Press in the AP’s Medium Market California-Nevada-Hawaii division.
