I was totally shocked that on Memorial Day President Joe Biden didn’t bother to say a few words to remember the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country; and to complete the nonsense Vice President Kamala Harris had the brilliant idea to say “Enjoy the long weekend,” instead of sending a simple nine-word message: WE HONOR ALL OUR FALLEN SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN.” I wonder if they know why we celebrate Memorial Day.
As much as some people dislike President Trump, as much as Pelosi and those like her hate our true president, we cannot be blind and need to accept the fact that he has always respected our military, and honored those who gave their life fighting to maintain the freedom we once enjoyed and are about to lose.
These are the emotional words President Trump dedicated to our men and women in the military: “On this Memorial Day, we remember the fallen heroes who took their last breaths in defense of our Nation, our families, our citizens, and our sacred freedoms.
“The depth of their devotion, the steel of their resolve, and the purity of their patriotism has no equal in human history. On distant battlefields, in far-off oceans, and high in the skies above, they faced down our enemies and gave their lives so that America would
prevail. They made the supreme sacrifice so that our people can live in safety and our Nation can thrive in peace. It is because of their gallantry that we can together, as one people, continue our pursuit of America’s glorious destiny.
“We owe all that we are, and everything we ever hope to be, to these unrivaled heroes. Their memory and their legacy are immortal. Our loyalty to them and to their families is eternal and everlasting.
“America’s warriors are the single greatest force for justice, peace, liberty, and security among all the nations ever to exist on earth.
God bless our fallen Soldiers, Sailors, Coast Guardsmen, Airmen, and Marines. We honor them today, forever, and always.”
How are we going to teach the new generations the importance of Memorial Day when the supposed Vice President of this great nation considers such an important national date just a “long weekend.”

Another shooting waiting to happen
I have great respect for our police department, the men and women in uniform, but I do recognize that some of the ones that get to be “detectives” are forgetting that many people of this community expect some respect from them as well.
An old story of an incident that happened in the State of Florida years ago came to mind and I want to share it with those who never heard it.
Two sisters, 21 and 16 years old, lost their parents in an automobile accident. The oldest one became responsible for her younger sister. And she was doing a good job working and taking care of her sister.
One day, a man living in their neighborhood, raped the youngest girl while she was coming home from school. A police report was filed, the girl was taken to the doctor, and to a psychologist to help her with the trauma. Her sister changed her work schedule so she could be home at all times with the younger girl. Nothing happened to the man.
The man continued trolling the area of the home of the girls, and the older sister confronted him and told him to stay away from them and filed another police report. Again, nothing happened and the girls lived in fear. By now, the man continued harassing the older sister, since apparently, he knew she was the one reporting him to the police (a waste of time on her part, of course).
She saw him outside her work place, at the grocery store, every place she went. Every time she filed a new police report. She decided to buy herself a gun in case she needed to defend herself and her sister since the detective in this particular case did not believe the girls deserved protection and advised them to move to another area, without taking into consideration that the girls were living in a home paid for that they inherited from their parents.
This case was more than harassment, it was stalking. One fatal afternoon, the man approached them outside a restaurant, and the girl pulled out her gun and shot the man.
Yes, she was arrested, but when she appeared before a judge, the judge took the time to read all police reports filed in the case (seven of them) and concluded that she was not guilty, but the police department and the detective in question were negligent for ignoring her pleas for help.
Here in Las Vegas, there is a similar case. A woman’s brother (unarmed) was shot and killed with a bullet to the back of his head.
The sister has been followed by the man who killed her brother; he has been spotted outside her home and regardless of the times she and her mother have filed reports with the police department, the detective in the case has made up his mind that the man is not doing anything wrong by stalking the woman, and sent her a text message telling her that he believes she is the one harassing the man.
