NLV Mayor Lee is now officially a Republican and officially running for Governor of Nevada.

Once Again, North Las Vegas Mayor John Lee on Monday morning surprised Nevadans with the already expected announcement of launching his campaign for Governor of Nevada, challenging incumbent Democrat Governor Steve Sisolak.
Last April, Mayor John Lee, currently serving as the Republican Mayor of North Las Vegas (Nevada’s third largest city), surprised his constituents by announcing that he was changing political parties.
“I’m proud to kick off my campaign for Governor of Nevada, because Nevadans deserve a leader who will put Nevada values first, not the liberal, radical agenda we see today from Steve Sisolak,” said John Lee.
“I will stand up for the constitutional rights of Nevadans everywhere, and will focus on embracing small government, defending free speech, protecting unborn life, and supporting the right to bear arms.” “I recently took a stand by leaving the Democratic Party because it embraced socialism, adopted radical policies, and turned its back on Nevada’s middle class and working families.
“As I’ve talked to folks all across the state of Nevada, it is clear that the leadership our state so desperately needs is non-existent.
“Sisolak has mismanaged the economy of Nevada from day one, resulting in massive and historic layoffs, small business closures, families in
financial distress, lost opportunities, dashed dreams and a lower quality of life.”
“In the Democrat party in Nevada,” the North Las Vegas mayor said, “four of the five recently ‘elected’ officials in Nevada are card-carrying socialists,” that is why he has officially switched parties from Democrat to Republican. “The working class…and also the small business owners, are not a part of the [Democrat] conversation anymore. It all has to do with the elitists and it has to do with the socialists. That is not the agenda that I have in mind for this country for the future…. We are not for expanding the government to even bigger and more intrusive levels in our lives,” said the North Las Vegas mayor.
“We have a good news story to tell in North Las Vegas. With less government red tape, and more common-sense, we rescued North Las Vegas
from financial ruin. We took an economically broken city, turned it around, and created an environment attractive for investors and new businesses to grow. We raised the bond rating from ‘Junk’ to ‘A,’ diversified the economy, created thousands of jobs, and kept taxes low.
“Now, it’s time to take that same philosophy across our great state of Nevada. I will stand up to the card-carrying socialists to make Nevada a state of opportunity, freedom, and hope for all.”
To mark the launch, the campaign is releasing an introductory video, “The Ride of a Lifetime.” The spot details Lee’s working-class background, his career as a successful businessman, chronicles his victory over stage IV cancer, and highlights Lee’s credentials as a common-sense conservative ready to challenge Sisolak’s liberal, socialist agenda.
