Clark County Commissioner Tick Segerblom and his allies, in their efforts to change the Las Vegas Airport name, claim that the huge cost for their efforts to bow to former U.S. Senator Harry Reid will not cost the taxpayers a cent because it will be done by private
donations.
Clark County residents already have had the sad experience of an elected official assuring the residents that a project they were pushing would not cost the taxpayers any money, yet it was proven inconsistent on both the train and the stadium projects, making the airport name change another political lie by local government.
Seven million is a lot of money, especially for something that is not necessary at this time while there are issues far more important than fulfilling the ego of a retired politician who already has had his boots licked umpteen times, along with having received lots of
undeserved benefits.
For the last thirty years the County Commissioners Board has been a Democratic Board meaning that when a Democrat wants something the Democrats support that something and the Democrat gets it.
Two of the Democrat County Commissioners have publicly admitted that they owe former Senator Harry Reid their job, their career, their fortune and their livelihood, so they already had convinced their board counterparts what the results were going to be and it would not matter what anyone else would think or want, no matter what the county residents and the commissioners constituents would wish, want, or like because the county commissioners are always right.
It has been an exhausting effort trying to learn how much those two county commissioners in debt with the octogenarian senator, or any of the rest of the board members that went along with the airport project, are willing to donate out of their own money for the project, but there has not been a straightforward answer, giving the impression that they do not want to speak to the Las Vegas Tribune.
The Nevada State Democratic Party released the following excerpts from the commissioners’ remarks after the Board meeting on the 16th of February.
Commissioner Tick Segerblom: “I want to address one of the concerns that have been raised about how this will be paid for. Let me be
clear, no taxpayer money will be used for this effort. All expenses associated with renaming are paid for with 100 percent private
donations… This also isn’t partisan. This has the support of Sig Rogich, Sands CEO and Miriam Adelson — these aren’t liberal
Democrats.”
Commissioner Segerblom neglected to admit that Sig Rogich, besides being adviser for the 42nd and 43rd Republican President Bush, he also served as adviser for Democrat Senator Harry Reid.
The results ended up to be what the Board of County Commissioners want and not what their constituents want and that is why they created the list of people who agree with the name change even if it bankrupts the county.
