Ward 3 Councilwoman Olivia Diaz

Ward 3 Councilwoman Olivia Diaz

On Tuesday, September 15, 2020, California Senator and Democratic vice-presidential nominee Kamala Harris was in Las Vegas supposedly for a conversation with Latino leaders.
According to news reports the Senator met with Councilwoman Olivia Diaz; Eddie Ramos, an employee of a local hotel/casino; an immigrant activist Astrid Silva; and Regina Simmons, the owner of a local restaurant.
Other than Olivia Diaz, all those supposed leaders are totally unknown to me, so as a Latina they are not my leaders and cannot represent me in any form or shape.
According to an article written by Rory Appleton with the Review-Journal, Councilwoman Olivia Diaz, who was elected to represent Ward 3, grew tearful talking about receiving calls from residents who cannot pay rent or buy food for their families. I would like to know how the good lady knows about those matters because she is never available to answer calls from her constituents.
There are hundreds of Latino small businesses in her Ward, businesses that were forced to close their doors per orders of her Democratic Governor.
Olivia Diaz should save her tears and try to do something for small businesses in her area and understand that even businesses considered essential, such as truck rental businesses, are more than likely to close their doors for good, because there is no equipment to rent in Las Vegas. People are leaving the Las Vegas area for other states to
live with family or try to find employment someplace else.
Olivia Diaz, if she wants to be a leader, should consider contacting the Governor’s office and requesting release of funds from the Department of Employment, Rehabilitation and Training for the so-called Pandemic Unemployment Assistance that have been held since the end of March 2020, without any recourse.
Astrid Silva cannot be my leader or represent me, because she is not even an American citizen; she is just one of the many DREAMERS in the country. The only thing I know of this lady is what her “abuelito” (grandpa) Harry Reid repeated to us over and over — that she came to this country with only a dress and a little doll in her arms.
Governor Sisolak cannot continue holding funds and naming one director after another to the Department of Employment, Rehabilitation and Training without any solution. The Governor wants people to come to Nevada and visit our ghost towns. Why people should spend money (they no longer have) to go north to visit ghost towns when Las Vegas is already a ghost town, with the only thing to see is homeless people that already are receiving assistance from the government on a monthly basis. These people don’t have any intention of working ever again because they have their funds secured on the first of every month, at the expense of taxpayers.
If Olivia Diaz wants to call herself a leader, she should act like one and try to do something positive for her constituents.

On another page, we are already tired of so many protests and the story of racism that already smells like a 15-day-old dead fish.
Now the people from El Salvador and other Central American countries are protesting racism, when half of them don’t even know what racism is, because their Temporary Protective Service (TPS) will be canceled in the near future. They now listen to whoever talks to them, blaming President Donald Trump for that decision.
These people are forgetting that it was a Republican president, Ronald Reagan, who in 1986 granted amnesty to millions of illegal aliens in the country. They never called him a racist.
These people are forgetting that TPS was granted to citizens of the Central American country following two devastating 2001 earthquakes in El Salvador that killed 8,000 people and left hundreds of thousands homeless.
During that time 200,000 Salvadorans entered the United States.
It was a Republican U.S. President, George W. Bush, who granted that protection to them, which was supposed to be an 18-month protection. That was never called racism.
Now, they want to blame President Trump for everything, calling him a racist, because this is what socialists are putting in their little heads.
They have been here for 19 years under that TPS renewed year after year, and now they are going to protest with signs reading “No Rassism,” because in 19 years they didn’t even bother to learn English, at least to be able to spell RACISM.
The president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, is of the opinion that El Salvador is in no condition to receive millions of their nationals back in the country. Neither is the United States of America, we have plenty of problems in our own land. Mr. Bukele wanted to be president; he better start taking care of his countrymen.
We are tired of listening to the same ballads from local government officials every day blaming President Donald Trump for everything happening in the country. Even the Coronavirus or Covid-19 is his fault (at least this was also discussed by Councilwoman Olivia Diaz and California Senator Kamala Harris during her visit to Las Vegas).
In that case, do we need to blame President Barack Obama for the 2009 H1N1 and Ebola pandemics?
Enough is enough!
