I usually review show openings with all the pizzazz of a premiere or first nighter, interview on the red carpet and attend the after parties but these evenings are awaiting news of the Corona virus to open.

In answer to the Corona virus situation, the Stars of Las Vegas brought their entertainment to Facebook Live, Youtube Live, Instagram, and other networks brightening the times until everyone can enjoy a “normal” life again.

Entertainer’s talent shines in living rooms, studios, or wherever they choose to perform. Seeing them perform in their homes without all of the frills of a showroom, stage, lights, costumes and makeup is great!

I had time to see two home shows this week- Michael Shapiro of “Reckless in Vegas” and Ryan Baker of “Shades of Sinatra”.

After interviewing Michael three times on the red carpets, it was great to see him perform with his band and back-up singer at St. Jude’s Ranch for Children’s benefit concert. What a show! He played his guitar while singing songs from the 60’s along with films of Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr., Elvis, Frank Sinatra and other stars on the mega-screen. These were the stars in Early Las Vegas, the songs that fans still love.

When he appeared on Facebook in the guitar room

at his home, there were about 14 guitars hanging on the walls, he performed an exciting hour and even did some movements from his show!

Michael began playing the piano, guitar, singing, writing and recording as a teenage with his first album in 1995 and three more. His single “Hope” received was strong across the US, thus landing him on a sold out national tour with a band Live and he began rockin’ as “Reckless in Vegas”. Michael’s performed at the Hard Rock and many other hotels but everything is on-hold now.

The first time I saw Ryan Baker was in “Shades of Sinatra” totally built around Sinatra   (Suncoast Hotel). I was impressed with his Frank “sound”!

He performed at the Four Seasons, Bellagio, Caesar’s Palace, and many others as well as a contract engagement (Artisanin) 2005. In 2008, Baker joined the cast of “Drinkin’, Singin’, Swingin’” rat pack show portraying Frank Sinatra.

He has also portrayed Frank in David Cassidy’s show, The Rat Pack Is Back! (Connecticut’s Mohegan Sun Resort & Casino). In Sandy Hackett’s Rat Pack Show in Las Vegas, Ryan portrayed Dean Martin and Joey Bishop roles.

During Ryan’s show at his home, he sang Sinatra songs and talked to the audience.

I enjoyed both renditions of Frank Sinatra and the stars of yesterday.
