If the councilwoman for Ward Three doesn’t start working as she was elected to do, soon downtown Las Vegas will become another Los Angeles, California; San Francisco, California; Seattle, Washington and/or New York City.
The councilman for Ward One is supporting the Ward Three Councilwoman’s mentality expressing the opinion that the homeless population in downtown Las Vegas is no threat to businesses in the area because business downtown is booming.
I have no idea what city he is living in because many businesses are losing clients who are afraid to do business with companies in the center of downtown Las Vegas.
Many business owners need to come to work at least an hour earlier than their normal hours of operation to start cleaning feces, urine and drug paraphernalia. Some homeless, and without any regard for the law, approach customers of some of those businesses offering themselves for a couple of dollars or simply a pack of cigarettes.
Does the so-called Metro Vice Unit still exist or is that something of the past? Business owners cannot ask those homeless people to move on, because first they are totally ignored as if those who are doing the trespassing pay the rent, electricity and other business expenses.
There are times when they expose themselves to violent threats and there is not even the recourse to call Metro Police. When you call Metro call center (311) and need to wait 45 minutes on the line for someone to answer the call, either you lost two to three customers or need to close the doors of your business in fear of being beaten or worse.
Sooner rather than later downtown Las Vegas will become another San Francisco where there is so much human feces that a literal “poop map” has been created to warn residents where not to step. In Los Angeles, the police department confirms at least one officer has come down with Salmonella typhi, the bacteria that causes typhoid fever due to the large amount of rat-infested uncollected garbage.
Is this what Ward Three Councilwoman is waiting for? For a deadly epidemic to spread all over Las Vegas? Is this what the One Ward Councilman wants for his residential neighborhood?

Does the FBI only help people they consider worthy of their services? I watched with great sadness just yesterday (January 19, 2020) a TV report about an American fugitive who was added to the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list on May 8, 2019. His name is Arnoldo Jimenez, who is wanted for the May 2012 murder of his wife, Estrella Carrera. Jimenez presumably escaped to Mexico.
Years ago an American employed by the now-defunct Pan American Airlines killed his mother-in-law, shot his wife leaving her quadriplegic and attached to a wheelchair for the rest of her life.
His name is Ernesto Joseph. He also escaped to Mexico. The FBI was informed of where to find him and the name he was using to escape justice. Photos of his new family in Mexico and the people in the United States that helped him financially were also provided.
The explanation given by the FBI agent who received all that information was: “We don’t get involved with cases dealing with the Mexican government.” Why is that? The powerful FBI is afraid of Mexicans?
A year ago today, Maria Urena, the victim of the whole tragedy passed away in her sleep without seeing one tiny effort to provide justice for the death of her mother and the miserable life she was left to live.
Neither the FBI in Las Vegas that received extended information nor the Florida FBI that received initial information moved one finger to help this woman.
We wonder if it was because Estrella Carrera was Mexican and Maria Urena was originally from the Dominican Republic and black.
