It is with great sadness that we report the recent death of our long-time friend Eddie LaRue, a private investigator, owner of AGR Detective Agency, with one of the oldest State Licenses, #42.
Eddie was sick for a long time, but we remember Eddie over decades of friendship and our daily lunches at the Golden Nugget, when he was famous for ordering a sandwich and eating just one quarter of it. We always joked about that with him.
Eddie was a character, but I don’t believe anybody could describe Eddie better than our former mayor, Oscar Goodman, did in his book, Being Oscar, when he stated: “LaRue was a character. In the television show VEGAS, the private investigator Dan Tanna, played by Robert Urich, was patterned after LaRue. LaRue wasn’t as good looking as Urich; he was a former jockey, only about five-foot-two. He came from Kentucky and spoke with a twang. But he was as resourceful as the Dan Tanna character Ulrich portrayed in the series.” Most of all, Eddie was loyal and truthful to his friends.
Our deepest condolences to his wife Terry, his children Diane and Eddie, Jr, and his grandchildren.
Rest in peace, Eddie. You might have gone on ahead of us, but you will never be forgotten.
