“The Epicurean Society M.E.N.U. Event” By Sandy Zimmerman

The Epicurean Society has accomplished so much with many success stories assisting students in finding careers in the food, beverage, hotel, business, human resources, the law, gaming, finance, hospitality, as a chef, and in affiliated fields. Providing scholarships for deserving students can change their lives.

What’s so great about Hospitality, there’s so many choices. Whatever you want to study you can study at the William F. Harrah College of Hospitality School.

You can do exactly what you want. We have incredible mentor-ships and the fact that the Epicurean group is so involved with our college opens so many doors and can change a kid’s life.

Sandy Zimmerman’s Red Carpet Interview with Kevin Ball, the Chairman of the Epicurean Society Board of Directors:

Chairman Kevin Ball: “We contact the high schools and invite students to apply. They go through an extensive interview process, screening, then we do a “reveal” for the students to find out whether they receive a scholarship.

SZ: “What a wonderful surprise!”

Chairman Kevin Ball: “We partner with the students for one year. There are some amazing students who have gone on to become very successful in our industry.”

SZ: “Last year I met a lady who is now the General Manager of the Nobu Hotel in Caesars Palace. Her first job was at Caesars Palace!”

Chairman Kevin Ball: “Martha is a former student who came to us for a scholarship and graduated. She is now the General Manager of Nobu Hotel in Caesars Palace. A full circle for the Epicurean Society. Her first job out of college was front desk and she worked her way up now to the General Manager.

This is our yearly event to raise money for the student’s scholarships. Forty restaurants bring food and guests can enjoy tasting the delicacies.”

The party atmosphere was happy with everyone poolside where servers brought appetizers, sandwiches and desserts around the Red Carpet. There were ladies on stilts, a band, and a woman wearing a liquor bar, just take a glass. Later the upstairs restaurant tables and exhibits were filled with memorable delicacies.

This body will utilize the collective resources of the local food and beverages and hospitality executives as a collaborative forum for the purpose of sharing ideas, knowledge and experience.
