Since it is so difficult for the working people of Ward 3 to communicate with you because you are always MIA (missing in action) and the only person performing your duties is an assistant claiming to be very busy attending meetings on your behalf and very unfriendly, forgetting the fact that the City of Las Vegas is not paying both of your salaries, but WE the people, residents of Las Vegas, are the ones paying the salaries you happily take home, I find myself feeling the necessity to send you an open letter to express my questions, worries and concerns.
The people in Ward 3 who pay for a business license deserve your attention. During your campaign we saw your Monster Mobile Billboard traveling East Charleston Boulevard and many times parked in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven located on East Charleston and 10th Street, but never saw your physical self at any location in the neighborhood of Ward 3.
The people in Ward 3 are not only high-priced attorneys, but other business people providing other services.
My question is the simplest question for the most important issue: “What are you planning to do about the aggravating situation regarding the homeless people?”
We are tired of coming to work every morning finding people sleeping right on our front doors. We pay rent and still need to ask for permission to get into our buildings.
We are tired of coming to work every morning to clean our parking lots of urine, feces, condoms, sanitary napkins, needles and other things.
They don’t only defecate on the ground, but on the sides of trucks and trailers and wipe their hands full of excrement around the equipment.
Think… We need to clean the equipment in order to be able to rent and make a living.
You need to inform the Clark County Health Department that those wastes are health hazards. You don’t need to go to medical school to know that whatever disease they may have is being spread in the air (Hepatitis-C, just to mention one, while there may well be several others).
The Courtyard Homeless Resource Center that the City bragged so much about and spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on, is not working because the majority of the homeless people claim they want to be free.
If you don’t want to consider doing anything about the situation, you could at least arrange to have some port-a-potties in the area parking lots and also arrange a City crew to come and clean them on a regular basis before the odor sends the whole neighborhood to the hospital.
You wanted to be a councilwoman with a foot up on the next level, but for the next four years you need to respond to us — not your assistant — the business people of Ward 3.
I am sure you are not going to read this open letter, but I believe the City Information Office of the City of Las Vegas will take note of the issues and inform your office of residents’ concerns.

This column was intended to be an Open Letter to the City of Las Vegas Councilwoman Olivia Diaz, but national news came out that President Trump fired his national security adviser, John Bolton. I am glad President Trump came to his senses. I met the man, John Bolton, several years ago. In my personal opinion, he is a liar, and he has NO respect for women, whatsoever. I should know — I was on the same stage introducing him during a political event.
