I no longer understand the behavior of those wearing the police uniform.

My Point of View

Melissa Clary is the best choice for Ward 3
Brian Knudsen is the best choice for Ward 1

Another medical nightmare and a hospital stay drama, but first I want
to give thanks to those who took time out of their busy schedule to
come over to Valley Hospital to visit me while I was a guest in that
medical institution, but I am not going to hurt their reputation by
letting the world know that they were concerned with my well-being.
A four-day stay at Valley Hospital was not too bad if I could bypass
the first night at the emergency room where the personnel lost track
of courtesy, politeness, respect, consideration, and humanity; they
most likely learned from the emergency personnel who drove the
ambulance that took me to Valley Hospital, but finally I am back home
and Tuesday, for the first time in eight months, I was able to go the office.

Every time I hear of cases like this I wonder if the departmental behavior is politically motivated or if it is that the department usually forgets one of their own when they don’t like or don’t agree with one of their own who makes a mistake or is caught in some
wrongdoing; could it be that it is because the detective is a female?
I no longer understand the new behavior of those wearing the police uniform; they seem to forget their blue blood, the Brotherhood’s code of silence, and all those other names they use as an excuse to cover all their mistakes and wrongdoings.
If it were not for all those rules of the “brotherhood,” Officer Ron Mortensen would not be behind bars doing time for a killing that he did not commit, a killing that was committed by the son of a police detective that “knew where all the bodies were buried and everyone in the department was afraid of him.
I am glad that judge Douglas Smith, AKA Doug Smith, is no longer a judge; unfortunately, Smith got to retire from the bench in Clark County District Court after making the life of many Spanish defendants miserable for no reason whatsoever.
As a District Court Judge Douglas Smith revoked the bail of a defendant because he did not like how the Hispanic defendant said
“thank you” to him while leaving the courtroom where Smith was presiding. Another case is the one of another Hispanic defendant that accepted a guilty plea and the judge doubled his sentence because he was not sure if the man, after finishing his sentence, was going to commit the same crime again.
Gee, why not do the same with a casino mogul who relapsed after twenty years in prison and molested another child; none of those crimes are committed by young Hispanic men which is why Douglas Smith does not use the same mentality.
If I would have known that I was going to be so pessimistic coming out of the hospital. I might have stayed there to avoid this ugly frame of mind.
Before I keep writing all these disturbing and ugly sad old stories, I will shut the computer down, but I want to remind everyone in the city of Las Vegas that the city election is June 11 and your vote is very important because we need fresh new faces in the city council and it is very important that Melissa Clary and Brian Knudsen are elected; they are the most qualified candidates, the only qualified candidates to replace the two corrupt council members — one that is termed out and one that chose not to run to avoid a shameful embarrassment like the one left behind by Ricki Barlow.
Remember Ricki Barlow? He was allowed to vacation in a federal country club for thirty days at the expense of the American taxpayers for wheeling and dealing while in office; rumors are that he did not know how to keep his mouth shut while sharing a meal with the feds.
My name is Rolando Larraz, and as always, I approved this column.
