Politicians like Coffin, Tarkanian, jump from seat to seat, and sign paychecks on the back

My Point of View By Rolando Larraz

Most politicians are familiar with this side of a check
One thing I regret in my business is not being aware enough of what is in my surroundings and being taken by surprise, and that is why some people that have to deal with me in one form or another think that I am a control freak, but it is not necessary for me to control everyone and everything; I just do not like surprises.
This time it was no one’s fault. I had been out of the office since last October and had been communicating with most people by phone and, believe it or not, some texting; yes, me texting, and without the proofing and editing services of Maramis, but I was still very pleased that more than two dozen residents in Ward Three were able to put their actions where their mouths are.
Seeing a group of hard-working people, small business operators and even residents of the downtown area willing to pitch in and support Melissa Clary for their city councilwoman is refreshing; it is new in this era of attacking, impeachment and investigation in today’s political scene.
I have never had the pleasure of meeting Melissa Clary, but I cannot believe that so many people can be wrong and misled; normally the people in the downtown area mind their own business and do not get involved in what is not their business and they couldn’t care less about what is going on outside their circle.
It is my understanding that one place has a sign for Melissa Clary in the window and another business asked for a sign to put in their location, and it became like a domino effect—now everyone wants Melissa’s sign, hoping to make the downtown area better than ever.
Perhaps this young lady, Melissa Clary, comes with a plan to end the homeless issue and make the area clean before thinking about downtown
beautification. Maybe she can find a location far from Charleston Boulevard so the less fortunate can have a place to defecate without being near anyone’s front door, the parking lot or the patio of those businesses that are near the “beautification” area; that will make Bob “Little Caesar” Coffin famous in the future of our city.
All I can say is patience, my children, patience, we have only eight more weeks of this Bob Coffin and all the controversy with the painting, the golf course, and many other dubious matters that will make people happy when he is gone.
Bob Coffin may have found his car accident excuse to step down from his city council seat, but sooner or later we all know that he will try to come back because leeches like him always find a place to go or someone to suck blood, but hopefully, the Las Vegas Tribune will be here to stop him.
I may not be here to see Bob Coffin’s complete downfall and I may not be here to see Bob Coffin’s destruction when he tries to continue pimping the people of Nevada on any political level or in any capacity, and the Las Vegas Tribune may not be here to stop his process by reminding the people of Nevada who Bob Coffin is.
What makes me think that he will try to come back when he thinks that the Nevada voters have forgotten who he is, some will ask, and I will tell you that politicians like Bob Coffin, Lois Tarkanian  and many others who are used to jumping from one seat to another one, one Ward to another, always come back to keep signing the paychecks on the back— never on the front, like many of us in the private sector do.
I am glad that there are only two races to worry about; the third one, City Ward Two — out of respect to my friends Chuck Muth and Tom Letizia, I am not going to mention. All I can say is God forgive and protect the people of Ward Two and I hope I don’t have to tell them I told you so…
