I like Chuck Muth very much. I read his columns all of the time, like his straightforward style and I am grateful he allows the Las Vegas Tribune to carry his columns free of charge.
I wish I could be like him, noble, humble, and forgiving, but I cannot; I read one of Chuck Muth columns and I had no other choice but to admire him, the more I read that particular column the more I wished I could be like him but unfortunately, I have my limits.
Chuck Muth wrote a piece about one of the Ward Two candidates that he used to be friends with and later the friendship, for some reason, went sour and he went on, as always, expressing his feelings and opinion as straightforward as he could and I wrote to him congratulating him for his column and even used a couple of lines out of it, but this most recent column really shows the quality of the man that he is.
Sometimes in politics one has to bite one’s lips for the better of the party you belong to or the issue you believe in; my opinion of Danny Tarkanian is not a secret to anyone. I don’t like him, I don’t trust him and I don’t believe him, but last election while he was running for Congress, I bit my tongue to hold back my opinion on Danny and let Ken Wegner write a positive piece on him and even allowed the Las Vegas Tribune to support him for the better of the Republican Party and the future of the country.
However, that is not the same with Victoria Seaman, who is running for City Council Ward Two after not being able to win another election since she was voted out of her Nevada Assembly seat and has not even been able to get elected as dog catcher.
Chuck Muth wrote a very complimentary and nice column about her and even if I was shocked when I read it, I respect Chuck’s opinion and motives for writing such a column. I see it as part of the business we have chosen.
I have nothing good to say about that woman, Miss Seaman. I cannot write one good, polite, or favorable word about her after she disrespected me, tried (unsuccessfully) to diminish me and spoke ill about my newspaper following orders from someone else who only thinks about, acts in favor of, and shows concern for, herself.
It is my humble opinion, and as long as I am blessed with the opportunity of living in this country under this Democratic Republic, I am entitled to my humble opinion: I see Victoria as not only a “job digger,” but a “position digger”as well.
Finally, after a few tries, she won a seat in the Nevada Assembly. And a few weeks after winning that seat, she ran for the state Senate, most likely looking for better pay, a better name, and a better way to jump to a higher position — but she lost. Later she tried to run for the U.S. Congress, but gave up that opportunity so Danny Tarkanian could lose and give the seat to a Democrat.
Now Victoria Seaman wants to join the city council but I am wondering how long she will stay in the job if she wins this race, and how much negativity and controversy she would bring to the board. With the exit of Bob Coffin and Lois Tarkanian, she has the opportunity of being a little more peaceful and all the elected officials may get along better for a while.
There are other candidates in the special election for Ward Two; the two “Vs” are not the only hope for the constituents of that ward and the two “Vs” are not the only choices they have.
I hope the residents of Ward Two get deeply involved in this special election and pick the right candidate to represent them, but I hope that neither Valery nor Victoria will be their choice. I am glad that I do not live in Ward Two because it is saving me the time and effort to go knocking door to door asking the residents of Ward Two to NOT vote for either of the two “V’s,” neither of whom have the best interest of that Ward at heart.
I may speak with an accent as Victoria has said, but I know Las Vegas politics and so far I have been right in most of my predictions and this time I predict that electing Victoria Seaman or Valery Weber to Ward Two city council seat will be a catastrophic decision. Mark my words!
I have never spoken about a candidate or election for personal reasons; I always speak about what is better for the city, the county, the state and this great nation. There is nothing personal about my opinion when we speak about an election.
As I have said before, with my six decades in Las Vegas and knowing so many important people, I could be a very well-connected individual in this city, but I don’t kiss butts and there is no one candidate that this newspaper or myself has supported that I had to go back to ask for favors; my support is nothing personal—it is strictly business.
