Hold the press accountable

The editor, publisher and sole owner of the Las Vegas “Pravda” Sun newspaper, Brian Lee Greenspun, in his ten-page Sunday insert in the daily newspaper, attacked the president of the United States, and among other issues, mentioned the Mueller investigation and the Comey firing, ignoring the fact that the president has the absolute right to replace those in key positions with people he trusts, people who can be loyal to his administration, even if it took the president too long to do the right thing and fire James Comey, who has always been at Hillary Clinton’s disposal.
Greenspun claimed in a headline that it was an honor for President Trump to meet Vladimir Putin even if nowhere in the ten-page attack on the duly-elected president does it say or show that the president said
it was an honor to meet Putin; if the statement came out of the president’s mouth, it could simply have been one of those political protocol expressions.
Even if it was not immediately noticeable by the Latino community at the time, Las Vegas “Pravda” Sun newspaper did not spend any ink or space defending the right of Elian Gonzalez to take political asylum after his mother lost her life in the middle of the ocean trying to give little Elian freedom from the communist regime in Cuba.
Attorney General Janet Reno, under the administration of Comrade Brian Greenspun’s pal, Bill Clinton, had “kidnapped,” at gunpoint, six-year-old Elian Gonzalez and gave him back to the Castro’s communist regime after Gonzalez’s mother gave her life to save her son from the communist regime of Cuba, but it seems that in the mind of the Las Vegas “Pravda” Sun, Democrats never do anything wrong.
It seems, in the eyes of a frustrated Greenspun, the Trump Administration has nothing good to account for even if unemployment is down and the economy is better than ever; but many wonder where Brian Greenspun was when his pal Barack Obama insulted the Cuban-Americans living in this great nation by visiting the communist island and was treated like a second class citizen when he was welcomed at the Jose Marti Airport by a group of employees and not even one member of the communist party or the Cuban government was on scene to welcome the president of the United States of America.
Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz was a Cuban Communist revolutionary and politician who governed the Republic of Cuba as Prime Minister from 1959 to 1976 and then as President from 1976 to 2008. A Marxist–Leninist and Cuban nationalist, Castro also served as the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba from 1961 until 2011.
Under the Castro administration, Cuba became a one-party communist state—while industry and business were nationalized—and a state where socialist reforms were implemented throughout society, but nothing was written in the local socialist newspaper in Las Vegas on the behavior of President Obama.

The trip began Sunday afternoon, as the U.S. contingent was met at José Martí International Airport with bouquets of flowers and a delegation led by Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez. But there was one prominent no-show on the tarmac: President Raul Castro.
This time Brian Greenspun and the Las Vegas Sun may have betrayed the trust of the Cuban community and many others by not criticizing his pal Barack Obama for visiting the island under a regime of murderers of
many innocent people and for dividing Cuban families by having an open relationship with the Cuban government. The trust they had placed in the Las Vegas Sun for the actions of his late father, Hank Greenspun —who always was on the side of those who for one reason or another had lost their voice in the community — was lost.
Las Vegas Sun newspaper was always on the side of the Latino community while Hank Greenspun was alive. La Verdad newspaper, the first Spanish newspaper in the state of Nevada, was printed at the Las Vegas Sun
presses at an almost ridiculous price, and it was the Las Vegas Sun which started a page in the Spanish language so the Latino community could have a voice in the community.
The day after the president of the United States left the communist island, Fidel Castro wrote a letter in the official government newspaper — El Granma — that read in part, “Let no one succumb to the illusion that the people of this noble and self-abnegating nation will ever renounce the glory, the rights, and the spiritual bounty won with its achievements in education, the sciences, and culture,” he wrote.
“We don’t need the Empire to give us anything.”
Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and fights government corruption, announced that it obtained documents from the United States Air Force and the United States Secret Service detailing costs associated with Michelle Obama’s controversial August 2010 vacation to Spain.

According to a Judicial Watch analysis, the records indicate a total combined cost of at least $467,585, but nothing was written in the Las Vegas “Pravda” Sun about the 2010 Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request. (The agency notified Judicial Watch that it withheld 78 pages of responsive records in their entirety.) Judicial Watch obtained the U.S. Air Force records pursuant to a March 5, 2012, FOIA lawsuit, but none of the mainstream media, including the Las Vegas “Pravda” Sun, stepped up to the plate and exposed the incident as it should have been exposed.
Mr. Greenspun has been appointed to two U.S. Presidential Commissions. In the early 1990s, he was appointed by President Bill Clinton to the White House Commission on Small Business. In December 2014, he was appointed by President Barack Obama to the Commission for the Preservation of America’s Heritage Abroad which “title-seeker Brian” enjoyed and may have “encouraged” him to be grateful to the two past Democrat presidents.
Loyalty to a fellow student is not a reason nor an excuse to betray a community by writing anti-American articles in one’s newspaper.
Greenspun was a college friend of Bill Clinton’s and the former president stayed in the Greenspun’s Henderson compound when visiting Southern Nevada and most likely that friendship was extended to the Obama family.
In the early seventies, La Verdad, the very first Spanish newspaper in Nevada, honored Hank Greenspun for his contribution to the Hispanic community in Las Vegas, and his son Brian attended the event on behalf of his father. Entertainers of the caliber of Nelson Sardelli, Jose Feliciano, the Argentine Gauchos, and many others participated in the event, and political dignitaries such as Governor Robert List, political figures of the era, Jack Schofield, and Bob Rose where present at the event.
When Brian Greenspun fought his siblings and Stephens Media for ownership of the Las Vegas Sun, the weekly Las Vegas Tribune sided with Brian Greenspun in memory, symbolically, of his father and the fact that the Review-Journal has been fighting for the sole market of the newspaper, making Las Vegas a one-opinion, one point of view, one source, one news outlet, with one single newspaper in the Las Vegas market.
“We may not agree with the editorial line of the Las Vegas Sun, but we will defend their right to say it,” said Maramis Choufani, the Las Vegas Tribune’s editor in a telephone call from Texas where she is vacationing with family members.
“Brian Greenspun needs to take responsibility for his role in this community and separate his Las Vegas Sun newspaper from the daily newspaper,” stated Las Vegas Tribune’s General Manager, Perly Viasmensky, adding that “It is a shame that after having three daily newspapers we go backwards by having only one newspaper.”
It is obvious that the mainstream media historically looks the other way when the Democrats get out of line, but is always quick to attack President Trump and make a big deal out of the little details.
