Just when I thought I had seen and heard it all, I learned something new and totally unbelievable. I also thought that I had met some of the most stupid people in my life, but I had not yet met the supervisor of a local grocery store.
I recently walked into that local grocery store, which I patronize regularly, and the supervisor of one of the departments approached me speaking in Spanish. I had seen this man before, but it never occurred to me that he spoke Spanish. I told him that I didn’t know he spoke Spanish, and he very proudly responded: “No, I don’t; I speak Mexican.”
I couldn’t believe what I had just heard. I couldn’t help myself, so I asked him: “What do you believe you are speaking, and since when is ‘Mexican’ a language?”
I always thought that Mexican was a nationality; never once in my entire life did it ever come up that it was a language. Apparently, I was absent from school the day they taught everyone about foreign languages and I missed learning such an important matter.

The wannabe president of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, claimed recently that the late President Hugo Chavez Frias came to him in the form of a little bird and flew three times around his head, apparently trying to pass a message to him.
Yeah right, so Hugo Chavez has reincarnated into a choguÌ bird, like the little Indian boy who transformed into a bird after his death.
For those who are not familiar with the choguÌ bird, that is a song from Paraguay about the death of a little Indian boy who falls from a tree when called by his mother. Later, in her arms, he transforms into a choguÌ bird, flies into the sky and disappears.
Unbelievable! This mentally challenged man is who the Venezuelan people want to represent them. What is even more unbelievable is that intelligent people in Venezuela even bother to listen to such stupid tales of the little bird on Maduro’s head.

The most believable of all unbelievable stories is the case of Monica Contreras, a young woman who was at Family Court some time in 2011 for a protective hearing and was sexually assaulted by a marshal during a drug search in a room near the courtroom.
The worst of the worst in this case is that the hearing master, Patricia Doninger, who so proudly displays her title of Domestic Violence Commissioner, totally ignored Ms. Contreras when she told her what had happened after the incident. Ms. Doninger continued playing with Ms. Monica Contreras’ little girl as if she were just another little girl in a playground.
Many people wonder where this woman got her law degree. She attended one of the best universities in the nation, the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, a private research university with more than 15,000 students from around the world. Also, Southwestern Law School, a private ABA-accredited law school in Los Angeles, California.
Apparently, she passed through both universities, but the universities’ teachings did not pass through her little brains.
Patricia Doninger needs to understand that she is also a woman and there are no women immune to sexual assault and/or violence. Nobody can predict when a woman is going to be sexually assaulted; next time it could be her and she will sense the frustration that nobody will come to assist her.
I admire Ms. Monica Contreras for making the decision to file a lawsuit and hope her attorney, Russ Goodman, remembers that more important than the money is the respect and dignity of a woman degraded by a little “macho” man with a badge and a gun.
Patricia Doninger should have enough integrity to admit her insensitivity and resign from Family Court.
