The first is about our local Sheriff race and a brochure I just
received in the mail from one of the candidates, Joe Lombardo.
The literature of Mr. Lombardo states: “Joe will restore our
community’s confidence in the police department,” and “Joe currently
serves as Assistant Sheriff — he understands firsthand what it will
take to reorganize Metro, to ensure the Department’s resources are
used efficiently and effectively to fight crime.”
Everything is he WILL, but if I am not mistaken, Mr. Lombardo has been
the Assistant Sheriff since 2011 and he hasn’t moved a finger in three
years to restore the community’s confidence in the police department
or hasn’t done anything to reorganize the department.I always thought that the position of Assistant Sheriff assists in the overall administration, direction, supervision and coordination of the Sheriff Department to include law enforcement, jail, communications,
record-keeping, budget activities and crime prevention. Apparently I
was very wrong because he hasn’t assisted his boss much in budget
activities when Sheriff Gillespie has been crying poverty and begging
for money to hire more cops. And in reference to crime prevention, he hasn’t done much either.
Our streets are a battleground, there are shootings on a daily basis and it is not even safe to drive on the streets of Las Vegas as it used to be years ago.
Police officers are totally out of control; they don’t even stop for a
second to think before pulling the trigger on an innocent citizen. The
morale of the department is null.
Why should we believe anything he now says he WILL DO when in three
years as an Assistant Sheriff he has done absolutely NOTHING? Why does
he believe he deserves our vote?
It reminds me of an empty promise five years ago of HOPE AND CHANGE.
Remember that? We are still hoping for change and everything changed
for the worse.
The other thing that confuses me is from Hailey, Idaho and the
liberation from the Taliban of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl (promoted to
sergeant in absentia). Everybody is making a big issue that he is
finally freed. Freed from what or from whom? It is all over the news
that the young man stated that he was ashamed to be an American.
Apparently, that was a common feeling in his household when his
parents kept him out of the government education system,
home-schooling him in a cabin which had no telephone, but was filled
with books, as if they were anti-government and ashamed of our
Personally, I don’t believe that stuff about Bergdahl forgetting his
English. I know people from many different nationalities who after 50
years still can speak their native language, including Swedes (where
the last name Bergdahl came from) and they can still speak Swedish.
Is this young man going to tell us that in just five years he forgot
As I said I am very confused because deep inside of me I don’t believe
he was captured by the Taliban. In my most humble opinion I believe
this was just a trick for the liberation of five of the most evil
terrorists from Guantanamo Bay Base.
Let’s hope and pray that those people won’t return for more blood from
the American people.
