Recently I heard an African-American man say that in his opinion African-American men and women are at a tremendous disadvantage in this country as far as being able to get ahead in any profession is concerned.
I took issue with that statement as I look at the reality around me. The President of the United States of America is an African-American (or so he says); the highest paid and richest athlete in the world is an African-American; the highest paid athletes in the NBA and NFL and the AFC also happen to be African-Americans.
It is an indisputable fact that the list of African-American professionals — doctors, dentists, actors, accountants, lawyers and
more — continues to grow by leaps and bounds every year.
Let’s get real, folks! It is what it is. Things are the way they are, not the way some uneducated people decide to see them. That, that is, is! That, that is not, is not!
As far as I can tell, the African-American people have made great strides forward in all walks of life, and should be proud of their accomplishments.
The continuous “woe is me!” attitude put out in the media by certain members of the African-American Community won’t fly any longer because, it just ain’t so!
