Figures Lie and Liars Figure

  • August 28, 2015

The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything. What to believe! Probably one of the most profound statements made by Joseph Stalin in 1946 was, “It matters not how anyone votes, it only matters who counts the votes.” No truer words have been spoken. In Clark County, Nevada, I am sure everyone knows — but does not want to think about it — that the electronic voting system is rigged, and the[…]

Windows or Walls? Sheriff Election Stratagem WALTERS TRAGEDY CONTINUES

  • January 14, 2015

I’ll start by addressing things in order of importance. First, the approaching two-year anniversary of the Walters family tragedy that Metro wants to ignore forever. I didn’t know ‘Officer’ Hans Walters. I was a sergeant and worked with ‘Sergeant’ Hans Walters. I later worked for ‘Lieutenant’ Hans Walters when he was promoted and I really liked him. He had a unique personality and was a genuine person and a good man. He was far more TRUE and REAL than so many[…]

POLICE LEADERS: Promoted Policemen, Politicians, or Pretenders?

  • December 24, 2014

I’ve often listened to what is said about police chief candidates when a community is conducting a search for a new leader. I’ve studied how chiefs are selected for nearly 20 years. One of the phrases that is used (when the union or the vocal members of the department actually like and support the choice) is, “He is a cop’s cop.” That is used as a term of endearment. But is it also a code phrase that describes the ‘competitive[…]

Four more years: The Metro Party Continues

  • November 12, 2014

The results are in. Joe Lombardo’s $1,766,407 million in campaign contributions bought 154,046 votes (51.16 percent) and won another elitist election. Those who could afford to pay… will now get the police department that they wanted. On the other hand, Larry Burns raised $854,976 in campaign contributions and this landed him 147,065 votes (48.84 percent). Close — but no cigar! Since I have a calculator nearby, I thought I would do a little math. I figure that voters were worth[…]

Judge Vincent Ochoa screamed at her…

  • October 22, 2014

There is no doubt in my mind that it takes a special kind of person with an incredible personality to be a politician — almost like a good entertainer. A good entertainer can have a broken heart, but once he or she jumps on the stage, that entertainer is a different person. Politicians are almost the same but for a longer period of time; for three or five years the politician is busy, whether he or she is just out[…]

Sheriff Election: Voters Bamboozled Lombardo,Crises to Manage

  • October 22, 2014

Let me begin this column by making it clear: Although I don’t believe that Joe Lombardo is the man for the job, I can’t say he is a good or a bad person. I don’t know his heart or his character. I only know that he is the anointed one (this time around) and that is the last thing that the LVMPD needs for the next four years. Joe Lombardo does not know me either. I lacked so much[…]

Sheriff Election Sabotage?

  • October 8, 2014

To use a boxing analogy, Larry Burns may have just suffered four ‘low blows’ in his quest to become the next sheriff. It appears as though certain people are already selfishly calculating their best move (and benefits to be acquired) because of their assumption that Joe Lombardo is going to win. I hope the voters don’t give up and that there will be a major comeback and upset victory in November. In the past week or two, the following have occurred: Punch[…]
