The Christmas and New Year’s holidays are magical at the historic grand Hotel D’Angleterre built in 1775. Arriving at D’Angleterre, it is as though you suddenly left the 21st century and entered another time. The Christmas lighting creates a glowing welcome from Kongens Nytory (The King’s Square) continuing throughout the surrounding streets. Over a 1,000 people attend the lighting ceremony celebrated with all the dignity of keeping their traditions alive. As a special added touch, The Royal Guard’s Music Corps, in full-dress uniforms, sing Christmas carols for an evening to remember.
The spectacular finale, the dazzling front of the Hotel D’Angleterre sets the stage with the Nutcracker scene, built into the multi-story façade. Lighting spotlights each figure (See Photo).
Afternoon Glogg, mulled wine as the Danes call it, is served throughout the holiday season. White Christmas Glogg is prepared with snowballs of Marzipan with cognac in white chocolate and coconut.

Christmas offers surprises around the hotel for children. They must visit the
Copenhagen Zoo. The Copenhagen Zoo invites d’Angleterre’s children on an enchanted visit to the old garden where the big polar bear and his family recently got new cliffs in their Arctic territory.
Following a complete revamping renovation for two years, the Hotel opened in 2013, in a classic style as a grand palace combining the elegance of the past with the refinements and luxury of today. Known for their royal, celebrity and distinguished guests, the owners, The Remmen Foundation are dedicated to service and kept their standards high throughout the years.
They have 90 spacious rooms and 60 suites, a new Michelin-rated restaurant Marchal, Amazing Space d’Angleterre Spa and Balthazar and Denmark’s first Champagne bar. D’Angleterre is one of the world’s first luxury hotels. As the first Scandinavian hotel, d’Angleterre offers douche toilets in all categories.
