Special to the Las Vegas Tribune

There is no doubt that the name Nelson Sardelli rings a bell in the world of entertainment, but those who are honored for knowing, off stage, the multifaceted entertainer, and those who are blessed with his friendship, know that there is more than putting on a show in the life of Nelson Sardelli.
For years Sardelli has been involved with several charity organizations, but the one that stands out as very special to him is one devoted to childhood cancer.
In Puerto Rico, the Brazilian-born Sardelli founded the Nelson Sardelli Starshine with the stars and headliners from all the hotel-casinos in San Juan.
Worldwide, 175,000 children are diagnosed with cancer each year. And in the U.S., more children die of childhood cancer than any other disease—more than AIDS, asthma, cystic fibrosis, congenital anomalies and diabetes combined.
This year in Las Vegas, Nelson Sardelli will be shaving off his “once gorgeous hair” to benefit St. Baldrick’s Foundation and he’s asking all his friends and fans to support him in raising money for such a wonderful cause, as it is raising money for children with cancer and to help him to meet his goal.
Sardelli, one of the “shavees” from the Masonic Lodge Nellis 46 here in Las Vegas will give up his locks on Saturday, March 2, at around 3 p.m.
The shearing will take place at McMullan’s Irish Pub, 4650 W. Tropicana. Since he sent out his own announcement a few days ago, some of you may have already sent your contribution to this most worthy cause, which Sardelli deeply appreciates; however, there now is quite a lit bit of competition between him and the members of his Masonic team.
“I opened my big mouth and said that I, personally, could raise at least one trillion dollars,” boasted Sardelli. “Right now, it doesn’t look good. I am not even running a good second… It is not neck and neck with the Cosby show.
“If you are one of the folks that already sent in your donation, God bless you. You have done your part; but if are planning to donate to this most worthy cause you can do that by going directily to Nelson Sardelli’s link here .
For those of you who may have some difficulty operating a computer, there’s nothing to worry about. Just send a check, PAYABLE to St. Baldrick’s Org., to 3801 Fairway Circle, Las Vegas, NV. 89109-1106 to arrive before March 2, and Sardelli will see that it gets into the right hands and be part of the “trillion” he expects to raise. Sardelli says he thanks you all with all his hairs.
