Expect detours for varying transit routes due to Dr. Martin Luther
King, Jr. parade Jan. 20; Transit to operate on Saturday schedule same
The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) will
operate its transit system on Saturday and Sunday schedules for
various holidays in 2014. The alternate schedules are implemented due
to traditionally lower ridership and less traffic on holidays.
In 2014, alternate schedules will proceed as follows:
—Monday, Jan. 20: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day — Saturday schedule
—Monday, Feb. 17: President’s Day — Saturday schedule
—Monday, May 26: Memorial Day — Sunday schedule
—Friday, July 4: Independence Day — Sunday schedule
—Monday, Sept. 1: Labor Day — Sunday schedule
—Tuesday, Nov. 11: Veterans Day — Saturday schedule
—Thursday, Nov. 27: Thanksgiving Day — Sunday schedule
—Friday, Nov. 28: Family Day — Saturday schedule
—Thursday, Dec. 25: Christmas Day — Sunday schedule
The first alternate schedule will fall on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day,
which is Monday, Jan. 20. RTC transit will operate on a Saturday
Also on Jan. 20, the RTC will have various route detours in place from
approximately 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. due to street closures from the Dr.
Martin Luther King, Jr. parade.
Impacted routes will include: Route 108 — Paradise, Route 109 —
Maryland Parkway, Route 113/MAX — Las Vegas Boulevard North, Route 207
— Alta/Stewart, Route 208 — Washington, Route 215 — Bonanza, Boulder
Highway Express (BHX), Henderson & Downtown Express (HDX), Centennial
Express (CX), Westcliff Airport Express (WAX), Downtown & Veterans
Medical Center Express (DVX), Strip & Downtown Express (SDX), and
Deuce on the Strip. Though detours will be in place, transit service
will still continue.
