The Little River Inn’s Victorian-style architecture stands-out with 63 ocean view rooms in six buildings sitting high on the bluff. Although the Inn was built in 1857, converted to an Inn in 1939, the rooms, suites and cottages are modern.
One of the seagulls visited me and kept returning to my terrace. The atmosphere around the Little River Inn and nearby historic Mendocino was so calming, a time to just enjoy the Inn and nature. Take time to explore the Inn’s 225 acres of wild life and forest.
The only golf course on the Mendocino coast, the Little River Inn’s ocean view golf course, circled by Redwood and Pine Trees, is ready to book a round of golf or try the driving range, putting green, lighted tennis courts and Pro Shops.
Guests can take whale watching trips or may even see whales from different areas of the Little River Inn, from their rooms, Ole’s Whale Watch Bar or the restaurant.
Try salmon fishing, kayaking in and out of sea coves, traditional kayaking and canoeing. Visitors can experience horseback riding along 10 miles of beach.
There are 30 nearby wineries with small tasting rooms where you can meet the owners.”
The Redwood trees stand out. I drove through the famous Redwood forest, Montgomery Woods, just 30 miles east of Mendocino where visitors can see some of the largest redwoods in world. The Avenue of Giants, just two hours away, with thousands of year old trees, so big a car can drive through the center.
Some interesting attractions include Cabot Cove, the setting for Angela Lansbury’s “Murder She Wrote” is actually Mendocino. The Skunk Train travels through 40 miles of history, Glass Beach covered with sea glass and much more.
Yes, here in this wilderness area, you will have a wide variety of things to do!
