The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) has announced that registration is now open for the sixth annual RTC Viva Bike Vegas 2013 Gran Fondo Pinarello, which will occur on Saturday, Sept. 21.
The cycling event will offer routes for all skill levels, including a 103-mile Gran Fondo, a 60-mile Metric Century, and a 17-mile ride. All routes will begin on the iconic Las Vegas Strip, and the longer routes will traverse the beautiful Las Vegas valley, bringing riders into the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and near Lake Mead National Recreation Area.
“Las Vegas is famous for its great resorts and casinos, but it is also a premier destination for an amazing cycling experience,” said Tina Quigley, general manager of the RTC.
“Las Vegas is cycling’s best kept secret, and we want to share it with the world. We are proud to work with cycling industry leaders like Pinarello and invite cyclists from across the country and around the world to Viva Bike Vegas for a ride they will never forget.”
“We envision making Viva Bike Vegas the ultimate one-day cycling experience on the West Coast,” said Fausto Pinarello, president of Pinarello cycling, the world-renowned bicycle manufacturer and official sponsor of Viva Bike Vegas.
“The courses are simply spectacular and provide a challenge for cyclists at all levels. We are honored to partner with the RTC and support this great event again.
Viva Bike Vegas will again occur at the end of Interbike, the largest bicycle trade event in North America. Interbike 2013 will be held at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, Sept. 18-20, and Viva Bike Vegas will take place immediately following the show on Saturday, Sept. 21.
Rider registration for the RTC Viva Bike Vegas 2013 Gran Fondo Pinarello is available online at vivabikevegas.com and during this early registration period, all rides cost only $85 and coveted event jerseys are $65.
