Former Majority Leader and U.S. Senator Harry Reid once stated that he could not understand how a Latino person can be a registered Republican; yet today, after seeing how President Barack Obama bowed to Cuban tyrant Raul Castro, one may wonder how Latinos could be Democrats.
Unfortunately, in addition to cries of their own personal pain, two public painful events come to mind regarding the hard-working Cuban community living in the United States of America under the regimes of two different Democrats: (1) The Elian Gonzalez Saga under Democrat President Bill Clinton, and now (2) the kiss of Judas bestowed by Democrat President Barack Obama kissing the rear end of Cuba’s dictator and number one assassin, Raul Castro.
It is sad and it is regrettable to see Cubans in good financial positions today who are very wealthy within this nation— most likely even getting into those high positions that come with more financial benefits — trying to do business with the Castro Brothers and the bloody government that prevails today in that country.
Senator Harry Reid does not understand how Latinos can be Republicans, yet several reasons can be mentioned without searching far. First, it is possible that Senator Reid may confuse Latinos with Mexicans; and
second, many “Latinos” that come to this country looking for liberty and democracy may confuse democracy with Democrats.
Also, maybe false promises from Senator Harry Reid and a few allies in local union halls have registered these “Latinos” as Democrats even if their migratory status does not allow them to be registered to any
party. The vast majority of Cubans living in the United Stated left the country for political reasons and not for economic ones, such as those arriving here or risking their life to cross the border hoping for jobs and a better life.
Apparently now, President Obama’s newest best friend is Raul Castro — and his gang of criminals (notice that the reference does not use the word “gangster” because it is not necessary to insult the so-called gangsters that are in this nation or the many “Latinos” that have given birth to children who are now the new generation of Americans).
What could President Obama possibly tell Bonnie Anderson, a Cuban American journalist whose father was buried in Cuba, after Fidel Castro got upset with an article she wrote while working at the Miami Herald, dug her father’s body up and disposed of it in an unknown location?
Bonnie M. Anderson is a 27-year veteran of print, radio, Internet and television journalism in English and in Spanish. She has worked on camera for local, national and international news organizations, including two decades with NBC News and CNN. Anderson won seven Emmy Awards, was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize and has been nominated for the Maria Coors Cabot Lifetime Achievement Award, which is sponsored by Columbia University.
What can President Obama tell the families of all those anti-Castro Cubans that were murdered by Castro’s guns?
What can President Obama tell Maria Victoria Garcia Suarez, who lost her 10-year-old son, her husband, a brother and other family members during the 13 de marzo tugboat massacre of 1994?
Shaking the bloody hands of Raul Castro, President Obama displayed little respect for the Cuban-Americans now living in this country with children and grandchildren born and raised in this country as the American citizens they now are.
Would President Obama dare tell the Jewish community in the USA to forget the Holocaust because it happened so long ago? Would President Obama have the audacity to tell Black Americans to forget slavery because those who were slaves most likely are all dead by now? We don’t think so, because even if President Obama is half Black, he never really suffered or will suffer from the “Being Black Disease” in America, and his daughters no doubt will suffer from it even less.
President Obama would not dare to offend or hurt the feelings of the Jewish or Black people of America, but he insults, abuses and trashes the memory of those Cubans that have died fighting to bring democracy to their country.
President Obama cannot comprehend any of these sacrifices because he never fought for any ideal; he has always more or less lived as a member of those “privileged white families” in the United States of America.
On April 1 of this year, Las Vegas Tribune tried to explain to Senator Ted Cruz the difference between one or another dictator when he referred to President Batista as a dictator that tortured his father while in prison in his native country, and it clearly showed Castro to be a way better dictator than Batista was.
Imagine Mr. Cruz as a real dictator in a Latin-American country and you will know how much of a dictator Fulgencio Batista was.
Imagine dictators like Leonidas Trujillo in the Dominican Republic, or Hugo Chavez and Nicolas Maduro in Venezuela, and of course those in the land of Cuba, the land where Mr. Cruz’s father was tortured so badly that he was able to leave the country and start a new life like many other Cubans also were able to do. Batista technically could have been called a dictator because he rose to power by taking the government without an election, but the reason that the Cuban people lost that beautiful land is because Batista did not know how to be a dictator. Did the father of the president-wannabe ever tell him that when Fidel Castro attacked the military base of El Moncada he went to prison, and during his time there he had a television, a library and
his own telephone line in his cell?
How dare Mr. Ted Cruz compare Fulgencio Batista to the Castro crime family of Cuba; how dare President Obama insult the intelligence of the Cuban people by ignoring their sacrifice; how dare President Obama stain the memory of all those who died for the freedom and democracy in their own country; it is beyond our imagination.
Perhaps President Obama is infatuated with dictatorships; we have seen photos of the American president shaking the bloody hands of Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez and Cuba’s Raul Castro. During Obama’s first run for the presidency of the United States, Las Vegas Tribune was the first newspaper in Clark County to endorse Obama for President, before the Culinary Union and many other organizations; but when we were presented with a picture of the Obama headquarters in Houston, Texas showing a picture of the Cuban Flag and a picture of Argentinean mercenary Ernesto “Che” Guevara on the wall, we immediately withdrew that endorsement.
Back then we tried to talk to the national headquarters to get some sense of why the picture of a socialist mercenary and the flag of a communist country were displayed in the headquarters of a man running for the presidency of the United States of America, and no one ever answered our question, so we withdrew that endorsement.
President Barack Obama needs to remember that as president he has to secure the safety of the people of this nation, and dealing with the Castro clan is a very dangerous situation for this nation and the safety of the American people must be protected always.
Raul Castro has repeatedly said that he has no plan to change the one party regime of his country; he would continue with his communist ideas and has not promised any changes to former enemy countries north of Cuba.
Castro is not giving anything in return for abolishing the embargo, has not promised anything in return for having Cuba taken off the terrorist country list, is not promising any changes to improve the quality of the Cuban prisoners, and has no plans to respect the righ of the Cuban citizens — other than demanding the return of Guantanamo Bay Base to Cuba — so what is there for the American government to trade with Cuba that can be of benefit for all parties involved?
Turning the USA into a socialist country as could have been the plan of Obama from day one?
