Giovi built a loyal following through regular appearances at local

When Kenny Davidsen pulled up his Manhattan roots two years ago to
take over the keyboard at Fremont Street’s hot nightclub, Don’t Tell
Mama, his path met Giovi’s and the two collaborated over and over to
rave reviews from local audiences. Davidsen added Tuscany Casino’s
T-Spot Lounge to his weekly performance schedule with Friday night
performances featuring some of the town’s finest guest stars.
Last Friday, Kenny welcomed Giovi to his Celebrity Piano Bar stage for
a farewell performance.
Giovi’s star rose as a member of the Las Vegas Tenors and through
appearances at venues like the iconic Bootlegger, Casa di Amore and
other supper clubs and lounges.
Then came the Tap House, a sophisticated-gritty bar and grill on West
Charleston with a broken up parking lot… home to Cleveland Browns
televised football games. But the Tap House has a back room and that
back room was one of the best kept secrets in all of Las Vegas until a
reporter from the Los Angeles Times wandered back there and into an
era that most people thought had vanished. Monday nights at Tap
House… you never know who will show up… and Giovi hosted the
whole, crazy, exciting event.
Tap House and its well dressed audience welcome some of the finest
performers in the world: Grammy Award winners, rock and roll band
members from the Baby Boomers era, tribute artists and the artists
they pay tribute to… Strip headliners like Frankie and Joey Scinta
(now at Fremont Street’s D, formerly Fitzgerald’s). Through a front
page LA Times story, the legend of the Tap House and the house band,
the Vegas Underground, has grown.
Davidsen’s Friday nights at Tuscany Casino in many ways reflect the
Vegas Underground blueprint, welcoming performers from all over, and
have become recognized as a great way to wind down the work week. The
New York transplant who now gladly calls Las Vegas home, Kenny has
quickly established himself among the town’s most popular performers
having teamed up with Kelly Clinton at her legendary Sterling Club and
Talk Tales broadcasts.

DO YOU HAVE THAT “BURNING LOVE”
CAESARS IS THE PLACE
Nearly 60 years ago, on July 30, 1954, Elvis Presley, at the age of
19, performed his first concert, and it didn’t take long for him to
become an international sensation.
Elvis has sold over one billion records, more than any other artist in
history, and will forever be remembered as the King of Rock and Roll.
Although Elvis passed away in 1977, it is apparent that he has not
“left the building” in Las Vegas. Caesars Entertainment offers three
Elvis shows on the Strip that feature award-winning Elvis tribute
artists. These entertainers have been performing on the Strip for over
a decade and have cumulatively performed over 10,000 shows. Caesars
Entertainment’s Elvis are sure to have audiences “All Shook Up.”
Legends in Concert: Flamingo Las Vegas Hotel & Casino
“Legends in Concert” lights up the stage with live re-creations of
superstars from the past and present. The show features several
tribute artists including Britney Spears and Michael Jackson but no
tribute show would be complete without homage to the King of Rock and
Roll, Elvis Presley. Victor Trevino Jr. takes the audience back in
time as he performs some of Elvis’ greatest hits on the Legends stage.
Trevino, who studied Elvis by watching YouTube videos, has performed
in over a thousand shows including several Elvis Festivals, casino
shows, Rockabilly car shows and now “Legends in Concert.” See Elvis
and the rest of the superstars perform in the Flamingo Showroom Sunday
through Friday at 4 p.m. and additionally Sunday and Monday at 9:30
Big Elvis: Harrah’s Las Vegas
While the King has been gone for over 30 years, his legend lives on
inside the Piano Bar at Harrah’s with Pete Vallee performing as Big
Elvis. Vallee first knew he wanted to become a performer when he
performed as Elvis at the age of 13 for a school talent show. He was
inspired to become an Elvis tribute artist by his mom, who is said to
have had a special relationship with the King. Vallee sings some of
Elvis’ biggest hits, as well as popular rock, gospel, country and R&B
songs. Celebrating his 11th year and over 7,000 performances on the
center Strip, Valle was named one of the top ten Elvis tribute artists
by Time Magazine and CNN in 2010. Watch Valle as Big Elvis take the
stage Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at 2:00, 3:30 and
Million Dollar Quartet: Harrah’s Las Vegas
“Million Dollar Quartet” is the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical
that takes place on December 4, 1956, the fateful day that brought
Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley together
for the first and only time. Sam Phillips, the music producer who is
responsible for launching the careers of these four musicians, brought
them all together at the Sun Records storefront studio in Memphis, TN.
The jam session that occurred that night was one of the most legendary
in rock and roll history. Inspired at the age of 11 by an Elvis
tribute artist by the name of Bill Chrastil, Tyler Hunter has been
performing since he was 15 and has appeared as Elvis in over 1,500
shows. Come watch “Million Dollar Quartet” inside the Harrah’s
Showroom Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 7 p.m. and
Thursday at 5:30 and 8 p.m.

HUNTRIDGE REVIVAL EXCEEDS FUNDRAISING GOALS
By the close of the Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign on Wednesday
evening, Huntridge Revival, LLC had exceeded their initial fundraising
goal of $150,000 through eager supporters far and wide, including
hometown notable names such as The Killers and Gold & Silver Pawn,
home of the hit TV show Pawn Stars.
The group also received an outpouring of support from community
partners that have collectively given the project an additional
$500,000 in professional services and pre-construction efforts to
further assist in the renovation. The PENTA Building Group, E320
Entertainment Group, Rich Wightman Company, Raster Media, Reynolds and
Associates Law, Augustus West Furniture and Finishings, Desert Fire
Protection, and Alios Entertainment and Architectural Lighting have
all given letters of credit to Huntridge Revival, LLC for initial work
and set up of interior and exterior lighting, sound, A/V elements,
initial construction efforts and design layout.
“The Indiegogo campaign was a tremendous success and we couldn’t have
done it without the amazing volunteers who put together events, spread
the word and contributed their time to increase awareness and
contributions. It’s the initial step that shows our future investors
the power of the people of Las Vegas and their desire to have The
Huntridge up and running again. We’ve assembled an incredible team
with some of the most talented people and top companies in our city as
partners and advisors in the project. The fact the community continues
to support with goods, services, time and energy — is just amazing and
inspiring,” said Huntridge Revival, LLC partner Joey Vanas.
“As a Las Vegas based company, The PENTA Building Group has helped
shape the Las Vegas skyline for over a decade and we’re excited about
the opportunity to help restore this part of the downtown community.
On initial walks through the theatre, and the furniture store next
door, the buildings seem to be in good shape and we look forward to
partnering with Joey and Michael in bringing the Huntridge back to
life,” said Tony Cornell of The PENTA Building Group.
The group plans to return the iconic building to its original glory
and more, restoring its place as Las Vegas’ favorite venue for live
music, performing arts and cinema. Also included in the early
discussions are a food and beverage outlet, a music education
facility, a permanent exhibit curated by the Huntridge Foundation to
preserve and continue the history of this cultural landmark, and
flexible-use spaces for community-driven programming.

GIPSY KINGS TO PERFORM AT THE PEARL
International sensation Gipsy Kings to perform at The Pearl inside
Palms Casino Resort August 2, 2013 at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $49,
plus any additional service fees.
Over the years the Gipsy Kings — whose members hail from the gypsy
settlements in Arles and Montpelier in the south of France—have
included singers and guitarists from the Reyes (Canut, Nicolas, Pablo
and Patchai) and Baliardo families (Diego, Paco and Tonino). Lead
singer Nicolas Reyes is the son of famed Flamenco singer José Reyes,
who, with Manitas de Plata, sold millions of records in the 1960s and
’70s. The band’s vigorous guitar work and passionate vocals are the
trademarks of an indigenous musical tradition known as “rumba
There are no other examples of a non-English speaking band (the
group’s language is the Gypsy dialect of gitane ) with such a
consistent winning streak in the U.S., where the group is the
biggest-selling French act ever. Since the 1987 release of the
international hit single “Bamboleo,” from their platinum-selling
eponymous debut album, the Gipsy Kings have dominated the World Music
charts and sold more than 14 million albums worldwide — more than 4
million in the United States alone. Their platinum compilation, The
Best of the Gipsy Kings , was on the charts for more than a year.
Albums such as the gold-certified Mosaique , Allegria , Este Mundo,
Gipsy Kings Live, Love & Liberté, Tierra Gitana, Cantos de Amor , and
Volare! The Very Best of the Gipsy Kings have provided a steady stream
of hits to Billboard’s world music, Latin, and pop charts. The
ensemble’s music has been used in numerous motion pictures, including
Peter Weir’s “Fearless” and Joel and Ethan Coen’s “The Big Lebowski.”
Two PBS-TV specials have contributed to the Gipsy Kings’ ongoing
success story. A documentary, “Tierra Gitana,” which aired on hundreds
of public television stations in 1996, explores the band’s roots in
gypsy culture and the members’ rich family heritage in flamenco music.
A second program, filmed in performance at Washington, DC’s Wolf Trap,
captures the excitement of the band’s live show in a 60-minute
special; it was broadcast on many PBS stations.
For the group’s release Roots , the core members of the Gipsy Kings
settled into a stone villa in the small town of St-Andre-de-Bueges in
the south of France, where they collaborated with producer Craig
Street on the Grammy-nominated acoustic release, Roots. For the first
time in years, the band recorded without a drum kit, synthesizer, or
electric bass, bringing the music closer to its Flamenco origins.
Additional albums followed and the band continues to tour worldwide.
Doors at the Pearl will open at 7 p.m. and show time is 8 p.m. The
Pearl Box Office is open daily from noon until 7 p.m. with extended
hours on select event days. The Pearl is now on Twitter. Follow
