seat belt while driving with the threat of issuing a citation; the
government tells us when to water our grass and for how long; the
government punishes us if we dare to wash our car in the driveway of
our own home when we pay our own water bill; and now the government
wants to turn off our air-conditioning at the hottest time of the day
and turn it back on whenever they choose to allow us to have air in
our homes with the so-called “smart meters” that are nothing more than
“control meters,” taking full control of our lives.
With the Smart Meters being forced on us by Nevada Power, AKA Nevada
Energy, the government can tell how many times we open our
refrigerator, how many times we turn the light on in the bathroom or
any room in the house, how long we watch television and perhaps even
what channels we watch.
It may be an assumption on our part, but most likely it is not: soon
will come the time when the government can hear and see what we do in
the privacy of our homes.
Who wants to have their privacy invaded by the government — or even on
a much lower scale, by the people who run the power company — exposing
what type of toilet paper we use, what toothpaste is our favorite, or
even if we use tampons?
With the Smart Meters, the government will be able to know how many
times we have sex and with whom, learning of our sexual preferences
Nevada Power, AKA NV Energy, is forcing the citizens in this community
to change their power meters to Smart Meters for some inexplicable
reason, terrorizing the customers by saying that it is federally
mandated when it is not.
It is not the law and it is not federally mandated; it is a capricious
misuse of the power company’s power, perhaps in conjunction with some
government entities to keep or get control of our lives.
Many customers objected to installation of the Smart Meters on grounds
that the radiation they emit can cause cancer and other ailments,
making it even more dangerous for people who are already cancer
Nevada Power, AKA NV Energy, in an effort to force the consumers to
change their meters to Smart Meters, is telling those who refuse the
replacement of their meter that the change is federally mandated and
an ordinance of the City of Las Vegas, but that is an outright lie.
In December 2012, the state Bureau of Consumer Protection, at odds
with NV Energy over the replacement of Smart Meters, reached a
compromise to allow electric customers to keep their existing analog
meters — but at a price.
We all know the story of the woman in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, who was
left without electricity in her home after three armed men entered her
home without prior permission and removed her meter, leaving her in
Shortly after NV Energy installed the Smart Meter, she started
noticing an increase in her heart rate first thing in the morning
along with an elevated blood pressure. She felt fatigued and started
having headaches. A low grinding sound had started when the meter was
installed and this made it difficult for her to sleep, or even be in
her own home during the day. She tried different things to get rid of
the symptoms, but nothing worked.
So she called the power company, expecting that they would remove the
unsanctioned meter right away — or at least come out and do an
analysis to find out what was causing the grinding noise. Months
later, frustrated after at least six failed attempts to have NV Energy
address the problem, she finally purchased a standard analog meter and
had an electrician install it at her residence. She carefully
photographed and recorded the readings on the old and new meter, to be
sure that she paid for every kilowatt-hour used. She attempted to
return the unwanted Smart Meter to NV Energy offices, but was turned away.
On August 6th, at about 10:30 a.m., three men from NV Energy,
armed with guns, arrived unannounced on her property, removed the
analog meter from the socket, took her analog meter as well as the
unauthorized Smart Meter she had removed, and left her living without
electricity. One of the men identified himself as an investigator with
the company and said that he was investigating her for “criminal
A representative of NV Energy threatens people with fines and
arrest if they refuse to allow the meters to be changed.
It’s hard to stomach the fact that in 2012 in the United States of
America, men with guns from a private corporation and no warrant can
show up and threaten us for not accepting a hazardous device on our
homes, but that is a true story.
Are we living in a third word country, in a socialist regime with a
path to communism, or in the almost-free United States of America?
