From court employees, court staff, and even a few former defendants, to several attorneys and judges and, topping the list, former mayor Oscar Goodman and his wife, current Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman, they were all present at the elegant Piero’s Restaurant to celebrate Chief Judge Bert Brown’s decision to run for reelection.
It is not too often that the Goodmans are present at political affairs, so being present and posing for pictures with Judge Brown and his father, former U.S. Attorney Mahlon B. Brown, must say a lot about Judge Brown being able to keep his judicial position.
Attorney and Las Vegas Tribune columnist Mace Yampolsky played Liberace, entertaining the audience at the piano and proved to be one good piano player.
Newly appointed Appeals Court judge Abbi Silver was on hand supporting her colleague, Judge Brown, in his reelection bid, as were judges Ann Zimmerman, Melissa Saragosa, and Diana Sullivan, along with her husband, attorney Sean Sullivan.
Municipal Court Judge Cynthia Leung, who is also running for reelection, and Judge Heidi Almase and her husband, attorney Caesar Almase, were also present to support their fellow judge.
Criminal defense attorneys like Alex De Castroverde and many other well known members of the Nevada and County Bars were also there to support Judge Brown.
The food was every bit as good as expected at a restaurant of the caliber of the famous Piero’s, and the service, as usual, was impeccable.
