You can experience the full rich sound of a big band.
The Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra is coming to Sam’s Town Live! Saturday, June 29, for a classic-style dinner show.
Nancy Knorr, featured vocalist with the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, feels, “When music or anything else is good, similar to cream rising to the top.
It is the music.
Big band music has survived the test of time.
People still love the songs.
During our show, we include all of the big hits and tell the wonderful stories of everything that happened during those days.
Come dressed however you feel comfortable and wear those dancing shoes.
The guests can dance.
There are just a few ballrooms around the country.
Many bands cut their size to be cost-effective, but the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra did not.
We are a big band.
Our music originally was written especially for a big band.
The Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra offers a 16 piece orchestra counting trombonist/ orchestra director Bill Tole and me.
With our orchestra, you can see a big band the way it was.
These are the original arrangements written during the big band era.
They created the sound for Sinatra and the wonderful singers of those days.
We are not a ‘tribute to band’, we are the band.
People hear a song and think about where they were when these songs were popular.
We usually close a show with “Sentimental Journey”
A lady came up to us and said, ‘I love your show, it made me cry’.
The songs brought back the time men and women met.
The men went to war and the women stayed home waiting for thim to come home.
We kindle memories of a special time in their lives and these are repeated today.
The same things that were going on in the ‘40s are the happening today.
It brings us all back to a happy feeling.
Dance together holding each other, not like today.
We are finding that the younger persons are gravitating to this music. Maybe the “Dancing with the Stars” is helping.
Everybody swings back to the good times.
The interest in ballroom dancing started again because everybody wants to dance that way and dress up.
They are really cutting-the-rug on the dance floor.
We keep the integrity, class and style of the way it was during the ‘40s.
This is a dinner show.
You do not find many dinner shows anymore.”
Thanks to Sam’s Town Live’ for bringing back the big band sounds!
