So much is happening during the Academy Awards event! I enjoy interviewing the celebrities along the red carpet and the time to relax at the Oscars Night party. The VIP’s, celebrities, invited guests and sponsors take the private elevator to Brenden Theater’s Celebrity Suite.
The public is invited to join the red carpet, party and events as sponsors as a way to help raise money for Variety, the Children’s Charity.
I interviewed Mark Purdy, Chef de Cuisine, Alize Restaurant, in the Palms Hotel.
SZ: “Chef Purdy, where is the Alize Restaurant located?”
Chef Mark: “Alize is at the top of the Ivory Tower, 56 floors up overlooking views of Las Vegas.”
SZ: “How romantic! What style of cuisine do you feature?”
Chef Mark: “Alize serves modern French cuisine prepared fresh based on classic French techniques and we make traditional dishes modern again.
There are some traditional French dishes like French Onion soup with toasted baguette and Gruyere cheese.
SZ: “We have a great feast tonight, you brought so many platters for the party. Could you please discuss the ingredients in these dishes?”
Chef Mark: “The Foie Gras Terrine is dipped in white chocolate with plastic tooth picks to make them easy to eat.
Some of our other selections include Goat Cheese Ratatouille Tartlettes with tomato and garlic cream sauce, Maine Lobster and sea salt Profiteroles, Tiger shrimp Cerviche Bruchetta, smoked salmon, roasted chicken salad, charcuterie and desserts.
SZ: “These dishes combine ingredients that you don’t usually see like Foie Gras with white chocolate and the goat cheese adds a tasty new flavor to the tartlettes.
We have roasted beef Chateaubriand with a Fluerette of Tete de Moines and Crème Fraiche.
There’s a Quiche with Parma Proscuitto and Gruyere Cheese.
The cucumber and green salad torchon is wrapped in the cucumber and topped with black truffle vinaigrette. A woman from Boulder City grows the green salad mix for us.
SZ: We are watching the Academy Awards show in Holloywood, do you have any favorites?
Chef Mark: “No, I am too busy.”
SZ: “Everyone should take time out to see movies!
