It is a fact that the United States is a nation of immigrants; no one is arguing that fact. Since the 1800’s there have been immigrants entering the country and there have been immigration laws that most of the time have been enforced and respected to the max by those who choose to live in this country.
Americans encouraged relatively free and open immigration during the 18th and early 19th centuries, and rarely questioned that policy until the late 1800s. After certain states passed immigration laws following the Civil War, the Supreme Court in 1875 declared regulation of immigration a federal responsibility. Thus, as the number of immigrants rose in the 1880s and economic conditions in some areas worsened, Congress began to pass immigration legislation.
The Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 and Alien Contract Labor laws of 1885 and 1887 prohibited certain laborers from immigrating to the United States. The general Immigration Act of 1882 levied a head tax of fifty cents on each immigrant and blocked (or excluded) the entry of idiots, lunatics, convicts, and persons likely to become a public charge.
These national immigration laws created the need for new federal enforcement authorities. In the 1880s, state boards or commissions enforced immigration law with direction from U.S. Treasury Department officials. At the Federal level, U.S. Customs Collectors at each port of entry collected the head tax from immigrants while “Chinese Inspectors” enforced the Chinese Exclusion Act.
But, regardless of how the liberals and the socialist media would like to brainwash the people who question the overflow of immigrants in the last three decades, of those immigrants entering the United States, the majority were legal immigrants and the government was well informed of who was here and why they were here.
Immigrants may have been an asset to the country when men were at war fighting for the freedom and the independence that now is part of our everyday lives and what makes the country a desirable port of entrance and a place to build a family and a future for everyone.
Italian, Irish, Greek, Jewish, English and Puerto Rican citizens were part of the mix of nationalities that were entering the country and they were all vetted and accounted for by different ports of entry, making them legal, and part of an important, constructive working force of the United States of America.
Some of them became well known political figures, while others became involved in real estate, or part of the financial institutes, all part of a regular work force that helped make this nation the best nation in the world.
Can anyone categorize US Senator Charles Schumer, AKA Chuck Schumer, as a white person? What does a white person look like, and where does a white person come from? Charles Schumer, AKA Chuck Schumer, has a fairly dark skin, but most people refer to him as a white person.
Unfortunately, some of those early arrivals became so “Americanized” that they forgot where they came from and believed that most of any other nationalities were “not white” when it came to addressing nationalities.
What they all refer to as the “white race” is hard to understand because Italians have individuals with dark or tan skin, but they call themselves white; the Greeks are mainly of darker skin, but they consider themselves white also, and many other nationalities are in the same predicament.
The “brown race” was created by either Puerto Ricans or Mexicans because they average olive skin color, but an actual brown race does not exist anywhere; in school we learned that there was a white race as well as a black, red for Native Americans and yellow for Asians; but “brown” was never mentioned.
A white person is from Mexico, Cuba, Costa Rica or any other Latin American country — until they arrive in the United States of America where their nationality becomes a race and they become “brown.”
The liberals and the modern socialists that are afraid to call themselves communists, as did Cuba’s dictator Fidel Castro at the beginning of his so-called revolution, until he was brave enough to admit his communist affiliation and anti-American policy after he was helped by the American government to take over the Caribbean island.
The mentality that no one is willing to do the jobs that the illegals are doing is nothing but a myth and an excuse for their being here, so why don’t we just admit the existence of the illegal wave of immigrants; there are many hard-working individuals that are willing to go to work in whatever job they can find so they can get the bacon to the family table honestly and with dignity.
Assuming that the leftists are right (only an assumption) and there is no one willing to do the work that the illegals are doing, maybe the Trump administration can turn an eye to those healthy welfare recipients “willing to work” and actually put them to work in place of the illegals that are being deported.
There is also the possibility of getting those non-criminals that are doing time in American prisons to work at those jobs left vacant by the illegals — that the administration sends back home — for a minimum wage and a reduction of their sentence. It is a win-win situation for everyone.
The jobs the illegals are holding now can be performed by many people that are either native or legal residents. The leftists should stop misinforming the rest of the nation with their false numbers; the percentages that leftists are publicizing the most are the same percentages of legal immigrants, and the Las Vegas daily newspaper should stop the open door policy to allow those liberals, socialists and radicals to mislead and misinform the community.
