George Abou-Daoud, owner/ creator of the Bowery Bar and Restaurant, chose this famous corner of Sunset Boulevard and Vine Street for his themed establishment.
George discussed the historic Hollywood neighborhood. “This is where Hollywood began. Across the street from the Bowery are the Paramount Studios, NBC Radio and ABC Music City.
The Columbia Pictures, Warner Brothers Studios and Universal Studios were within a few hundred feet of us.
Columbia produced pictures with Cary Grant, Rita Hayworth, Rosalind Russell, Glenn Ford, William Holden and other stars.
On the adjacent block, the old Earl Carroll Theater, built in 1938, is now the Nickelodeon Theater.
The first full length feature film in the United States was produced across the street.
Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Star Search, Married with Children and many of the television programs we know were filmed here.
The Arclight Cinema, next door on Vine Street, is one of three theaters for Hollywood premiers.
Bugs Bunny was born just six blocks down the street.
The Jazz Singer, the first talking motion picture
