Jacob Jurado, co-owner of the Los Feliz Lodge explained, “Since the Los Feliz Lodge was built in the 1920’s near the silent films studios, many people who were involved with the film studios lived here. Later Ken Kesey, the author of “One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest, visited often.”
Walking around the tropical setting today, you can see how nature could be so relaxing as to inspire creativity.
The majestic front gate is locked with each guest provided the code to this hide-away. Steps lead up to an elevated peak with two wonderful patios. On the right is a setting for mixing with the guests and looking out at the city. The patio on the left is more like a mini-forest with a wilder mixture of cactus, plants and a large tree where couples or honeymooners can be alone.
Jacob commented, “We love our trees, plants and cactus here, my sister was the spearhead planning the gardens with my cousin then my brother made it his own.
When you think of Los Angeles, you don’t think of a tropical setting but the Lodge gives a different feel. You are near everything that Los Angeles has to offer yet it doesn’t feel like Los Angeles.
Farmer’s Market is near us for local-grown farm food. They have three markets throughout the week and restaurants.
The historic Vista Movie Theater schedules new first release films on one screen. When you walk in, you see an Egyptian theme and extravagant decorations.
We are located at the base of Griffith Park which has tons of activities. There are a lot of hiking trails, the observatory, playgrounds, golf, pony rides, and bike rentals. The Los Angeles River also has a bike trail. There’s a metro Rail stop in Los Feliz that can take you downtown, Pasadena, Long Beach, and several other cities.
Guests will find an extra-large book, inside each of the casitas, devoted to places to eat and things to do. Las Angeles offers so many food options. The categories include places for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, famous places, historic sites, coffee shops, ethnic restaurants, cafes, Vegan, night clubs, cocktail lounges, quick bites, casual eateries, groceries, health food stores, hiking trails, Dodger games, architecture tours, fun for children, food delivery, and much more.”
