If there exists a better non-club club in the entire world than
F.I.O.R.E. (Fun Italians Organizing Ridiculous Events), we haven’t
heard about it.
Where else can you go for a delicious lunch, enjoy great live music,
see some impressive impromptu entertainment, dance if you want to, and
hear some great guest speakers? Nowhere, but at the F.I.O.R.E. monthly
meetings, held at the Las Vegas Italian American Club… period!
At our last gathering, entertainer Linda November (the “Meow, Meow,
Meow Lady,” who has recorded over 22,473 radio and television jingles)
led the entire group in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Former Lieutenant Governor, Dr. Lonnie Hammargren, did the invocation
and later introduced the speaker of the day, former Governor Bob
Miller. The Governor spoke, entertained and informed a large crowd of
Presidents, First Ladies, Ambassadors and guests. More than 100
attended this gathering. It continues to amaze and impress this
reporter to see this fun-seeking group always dedicating a few minutes
to Deity and Country at the beginning of all their events.
Singer Marilyn O’Leary, formerly with the Dean Martin Gold Diggers,
sang a patriotic song and the classic Nessun Dorma from the opera,
As always, Dr. George Ritter joined award-winning Gary Anderson and
the Malcontents to provide great live music.
The organization keeps growing and getting classier as time goes by.
