The Dragon Way weight loss approach is influenced by the principles of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM).
It was developed by Qigong Master Nan Lu, OMD, and Grand Master Xihua Xu of Yunnan, China.
The Dragon Way does not recognize most of the fundamentals of the other diet programs which include appetite suppression, diet and exercise or any combination of these three.
According to Nan Lu, “Virtually all Western weight loss programs focus on losing weight to gain energy. We say gain energy, lose weight. It’s that simple!”
When deciding on a plan to control your weight, you can choose between external versus TCM’s internal programs.
The external influences are your eating habits, emotional stability, frequent discomforts and how you spend your time.
They look at the whole person and believe weight loss can occur naturally.
“In traditional Chinese medicine, Nan Lu asks, “Are you eating from your mind or from your body?”
Stress makes you want to continue eating.
Gaining weight is just a symptom the body is out of balance.
Most people do not listen to their bodies.
The Dragon Way feels the digestive system is vital to be able to help the body in its proper functioning.
Restoring the bodies’ balance is important to most of the eastern methods of relieving stress.
Traditional Chinese medicine states, “When energy flows freely, health issues resolve themselves.”
Your emotions and mind can cause many medical dysfunctions. The Dragon Way feels there are five emotions related to certain organs in the body (liver, heart spleen, lung and kidney). These organs are related to insomnia, constipation, heartburn, hot flashes and other dysfunctions.
Some aspects of the eastern and western health menus are similar. Both theories believe fish, foul, fruits and vegetables are important to your health.
The Dragon Way recommends some of their own recipes to show how to eat healthy meals http://www.tcmworld.org/dragonsway/the-dragons-way-recipes-for-self-healing/
Although they do not believe in the conventional western-style exercises, the Dragon Way recommends special energy exercises.
