In an interview with Sheriff Candidate Gordon Martines, at the Las Vegas Tribune Office, vows were pledged, promises were made, and a Policing with Ethics strategy was formed in order to restore the Honor, Integrity, Trust and Truth to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and for the betterment of the Community.
Sheriff Candidate Gordon Martines said his strategy is quite simple.
He said, “When I am elected Sheriff, Truth will be the foundation of any/all acts committed by the police department. Next, all current and previous questionable acts, i.e. officer involved shootings, murders, thefts, extortions, suicides, unlawful terminations, misappropriation of funds, and Constitutional violations committed by the police department and by any/all employees, will be re-examined and rectified no matter how long it will take, going as far back as to when they occurred. This vow is absolutely necessary if this police department and this community are to survive. It is of the utmost urgency that the public again trusts and respects their police department, and again believes that the law of the land will not be for sale, and that the enforcement of the law will always be impartial and not subject to public opinion or money.”
Martines further stated, “Expose the truth or perish with or by the lie.”
When asked what he would do first when he is elected Sheriff, Martines said, “Removing the cancerous personnel tumors from the department is a priority, otherwise the organized criminal behavior will continue unabated. I have personal knowledge of who needs to be removed, and I am confident that they know also and will retire, or resign before it is necessary to take legal action. The behavior I’m speaking about involves not only policy violations but also criminal violations that have been occurring over the years.”
Martines said, “This is not my first Rodeo, as I have always been considered a thorn in the administration’s side because of my outspoken revelations whenever I have seen wrongdoings in the past and present.”
“I have continually attempted to rectify these wrongdoings by ‘internally’ pointing out the wrongful acts, such as ‘slanting traffic accident reports,’ producing and manufacturing false police reports, accepting bribes to cover up criminal acts, falsifying court testimony, dissuading witnesses, covering up the use, and under the influence, of controlled substances by employees, the covering up of sexual acts by upper administration on duty and in public taxpayer offices, allowing and ignoring without report or prosecution, the rape and attempted rape of innocent subordinate employees and victimized citizens, the illegal procurement and distributions of monies collected by interdiction drug arrests and drug money confiscation, the awarding of taxpayer contracts for substandard work and materials, the appointment of unqualified ‘cronies’ to positions of power and influence over the everyday activities and welfare of police officers, allowing for the collusion of the legal profession to take advantage and profit from the injuries sustained by police officers in the field, allowing for the establishment of ticket quotas and discipline to only generate revenue for the general fund, allowing for the creation of a ‘spin team’ to make sure, legally and illegally, each and every ‘officer involved shooting’ is deemed justifiable in order to minimize monetary settlements, allowing for the unequal, unfair and unconstitutional treatment of individuals charged with a criminal act or having a manufactured criminal act illegally placed against them, or failing to charge an individual with a criminal act when it is proper and appropriate.”
Sheriff Candidate Gordon Martines closed by saying, “It is no wonder most of the community hates, distrusts, and disrespects the police department with these types of acts committed against them. The community, however, has nobody but themselves to blame because they keep electing the same type of people to the administration and leadership of the police department, over and over.”
“Lately, my 2011 Federal Lawsuit against the LVMPD, Sheriff Douglas Gillespie, et al, and fourteen additional defendants has resurfaced four unsolved murders, with LVMPD being complicit, occurring in 1996, 2001, 2007, and 2010, along with numerous other criminal acts. Fortunately, these criminal acts are now being investigated by the FBI and the Justice Department, starting in June 2013, but that process is very slow and methodical and will more than likely conclude way past the election dates of June 2014 and November 2014, for Sheriff of Clark County.”
“The effects of this Federal Lawsuit may have already had some effects regarding the resignations of four Asst. Sheriffs, one Captain, and the non-reelection of the current Sheriff, this year alone. I anticipate more resignations to follow, as this is typical of how the Feds operate in that they do not want to totally destroy the infrastructure of the local government, no matter how obviously corrupt they may be.”
