Interview: Rick Michel, Show Producer and Dean Martin impressionist.
“Drinkin’- Singin’- Swingin’ – Salute to Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr., and Dean Martin” is different from all of the other shows.
Rick Michel explains, “The other shows have a 1960s vibe. I wanted to do something different.
There are no limitations to what these three superstars would do if they were alive today.
They are the Kings of Cool, the legendary Icons of Entertainment.
What songs would Frank Sinatra sing?
Sammy has never sang rap, Frank never sang country and Dean never sang Rock n’ Roll.
But they do in this show.
And we also include songs they have never sung together.
It’s a fun show.
Dean performs the classic favorites “Everybody loves somebody”, “That’s Amore”, “Kick in the Head, and “Sam’s Song”.
Sammy sings “Mr. Bo jangles” and “Candy Man” with impressions of James Brown, Stevie Wonder and others.
Frank’s numbers include “Lady is a Tramp, Get me to the Church on time”, “New York, New York”, “You make me feel so Young” and of course, “My Way” during the big finale.
It’s a lot of music, close to a total of 35 songs.
There is a medley that we go round-robin singing 9 songs in 11 minutes.
Other numbers include “Fly me to the Moon”, “Strangers in the Night”, Volare”, “What kind of fool am I”, “Hey, There” and more.
I get to do the Godfather and Rodney Dangerfield during my stand-up routine.
There is some current stuff so we can all have a laugh and tap our toes to the music.
We each do our own individual stuff then we come together in the middle of the show and have a lot of fun.”
The cast includes: Sebastian Anzaldo as Frank Sinatra, Kenny Jones as Sammy Davis, Jr, and Rick Michel as Dean Martin.
Rick Michel has been a master impressionist for over 40 years.
He has shared the stage with Rich Little, Mickey Rooney, John Byner and Sherman Hemsley, and opened for comics Rita Rudner and George Wallace.
Rick discussed his other show. “I also portray Frank Sinatra in the “Sinatra Forever” show composed of a 24- piece orchestra with more than half of the musician’s were former members of Frank Sinatra’s orchestra. There are 12 strings and a 12- piece big band.
