It was a big night as celebrities and VIP guests arrived at the red carpet to celebrate comedian magician Mac King’s 13th anniversary event.
Among the celebrities were the cast of Million Dollar Quartet (Harrahs), Kevin Burke Defending the Caveman ( Harrahs) , the cast of Chippendales (Rio), Maren Wade-iCandy Burlesque (Planet Hollywood), Mark Shunock-Rock of Ages (Venetian), the cast from Marriage can be Murder (The D Las Vegas), and more.
The festivities continued as they all entered Harrah’s showroom to enjoy Mac King’s Comedy Magic Show.
Mac King mixed comedy with magic in a manner reminiscent of Andy Griffith’s small town-style of acting.
This was really an audience participation show with both adults and children joining Mac on the stage. His close-up magic brought surprises and applause.
Mac will take your shoe, money or some other personal item and you might not get them back but the results are a lot of laughs.
When Mac discussed the times his grandfather taught him magic tricks, this personal touch delighted the audience.
I especially enjoyed the ‘Cloak of Invisibility’ trick hiding under a gold lamiae blanket with only his head and legs showing. Every time Mac turned around, he would impersonate either Elvis or Liberace corresponding to whose face was on the blanket.
Later there was a private after-party, VIP reception when everyone could meet, talk and choose from a buffet of appetizers.
Christian Stuart, Harrah’s regional Vice President and Assistant General Manager said, “Harrah’s Las Vegas is proud to have served as home to Mac King for the past 13 years. He is not only an exceptional entertainer who has entertained more than a million audience members since opening here at Harrah’s, but he is also an accomplished writer and an outstanding citizen who is an avid supporter of literacy programs. Harrah’s Las Vegas hopes to serve as his home for several more years.”
Mac expressed his feelings, “A big thank you to all my pals and fans who have come out to support comedy and magic in the afternoon. I look forward to making more memories here at Harrah’s Las Vegas and I really am the luckiest boy on earth.”
Mac always amazes the audience, with his simple tongue-in-cheek, unsophisticated manner and is a pleasant contrast to the dramatic flair of some of the other acts.
He began his full-time one-man show “The Mac King Comedy Magic Show” at Harrah’s Las Vegas in 2000. Since then, King has performed an unprecedented 6,760 shows to more than
