the nation about Obamacare. Very few people know what’s behind the
pages of the so-called Obamacare because practically no information —
other than threats of penalties to be imposed if individuals neglect
to buy the mandatory insurance policy — has been provided to the
people believing that this is the best thing that ever happened in
This is the typical approach of socialism, of economic and government
systems where the government owns or runs important industries — in
this case the health care industry.
When economic planning is largely used, it is referred to as communism.
There is a lot of confusion going on; some people believe that this is
going to be free health care as they have in communist countries. Some
others believe that in fact under whatever plan they have, they can
continue seeing the doctor of their choice.
To begin with, the so-called socialists need to understand that there
is nothing free; everything comes with a price tag.
A friend of mine who considers herself an intelligent and intellectual
woman, told me recently that she is a socialist and that she voted for
Obama for one reason only: to have free health care.
A couple of days ago I gave her a call and asked if she has already
purchased her health insurance policy, as it is demanded by the
President of the United States of America.
She didn’t know what to say and she just mumbled, “I thought it was
going to be free and that I could continue seeing my regular doctor.”
To begin with, there is no insurance plan in this country that can
guarantee that you can continue seeing the medical provider of your
choice. Those years when we had the opportunity to see an individual
with a medical degree that we used to call a doctor, and refer to such
individuals with respect, are long gone.
Nowadays you can be under the care of one of those medical providers
and have a scheduled follow-up appointment; but when the day comes,
you might receive a call from someone working in the office to tell
you that the appointment has been set with a different provider
because the supposed doctor left without an explanation and they have
no idea if he is coming back or not.
You take a chance with the other medical “provider” and when you
believe you have found someone you can trust with your medical needs,
an arrogant secretary calling herself a nurse calls you to tell you
that the “doctor” took a leave of absence and never informed them when
or if he or she would be back.
This is one of the reasons there is very little respect for the
Does anybody remember the good old times when if you needed to go to
an emergency room of a hospital the nurses immediately paged your
doctor (your permanent doctor) to inform him (or her) of the situation
and he visited you there and was the one entrusted with your care?
These days, you go to an emergency room to be treated by some foreign
doctor, one whose name you don’t know and one whom you will most
likely never see again. Most of the time you believe a medical doctor
is the one responsible for your care, only to later find out the one
treating you is not even a doctor, but a registered nurse.
That story that under Obamacare you will continue seeing the doctor of
choice is totally false. At this time, without Obamacare, you don’t
even know who is treating you. So, if you ever have any issues about
the treatment you have just received or the medicine prescribed, there
will be no way to find that person again.
With Obamacare, we will never know who will be caring for us and it’s
still going to cost lots of money, and we get to “choose” what to do
under threat of being fined. So either way, who cares!
