I heard about the famous spas in Riviera Maya, their exotic treatments and ancient remedies. The Ceiba del Mar Beach & Spa Resort not only offers a wide variety of wellness treatments, but their tropical setting is like a scene in a movie. Pampering is what they do, from your mind to your body.
Since the Riviera Maya is the land of the Mayan Indians, Ceiba offers a number of Signature Treatments which incorporate the “Mayan Experience”, a fusion between ancestral Mayan wisdom, Mexican herbal remedies, essential oils and the latest modern advances.
Gloria Guerrero, Spa Manager, discussed their Bio-Tensor, “This is a magnetized wand-like wire that acts like an antenna to measure the energy flow balance and electrical system of the body. We perform this before all of the treatments. The wand is pointed toward the client as it moves up and down by itself to select which essential oils their body needs.
All of our treatments are personalized. The Meridian Stress Assessment shows how your body is working and which organs are weak or out of balance. A special oil treatment is prepared to rub on the body for 20 days.
With each of the Signature Treatments, a purifying ritual with copal, the Mayan sacred tree resin, is burned and used to harmonize the body, mind and spirit. The therapist asks permission to the Gods, and then starts with a foot bath.”
The Mayan Top’Nikte Massage is an exhilarating treatment, an experience which heightens your senses. After a leisurely 50 minute massage, you are beginning to relax but there is much more than just a massage.
The treatment continues with a cotton cloth soaked in an herbal infusion wrapped around your body covered by plastic around the towels. It feels so warm and secure in the cocoon waiting while the oils and herbs soak into the skin getting rid of toxins. As if that was not enough to give us a great state of mind, the therapist applies warm olive oil to our head with de-stress massages on the scalp and face.
Christian Rodriguez, Director of Sales & Marketing, discussess the Ceiba del Mar Resort, “Torches light the passageways at night, without artificial lighting and no lights during the full moon.
Ceiba is not your typical all-inclusive resort. We are a small romantic resort surrounded by lush gardens, spread out with a half- mile beach just to ourselves. You can walk forever. There aren’t any big hotels near us; just a small fisherman village like Cancun was 30-40 years ago.
Guests feel like they are in the middle of nowhere, yet we are in the heart of Cancun and the Riviera Maya, 20 minutes from everything. Their restaurant’s motto is, “What you are eating today slept in the sea last night.” Proud of their heritage, we were served several delicious Mayan, Yucatan dishes- tortilla filled with chicken salad, lemon chicken tortilla soup, fish grilled in banana leaves, and flan.
Ceiba’s private marina and pier makes it convenient for guests to take snorkeling, scuba diving and deep sea fishing trips. Imagine a private dinner, massage or wedding on the pier surrounded by the ocean. You can choose a Mayan or traditional ceremony.”
