Letters to the Editor

  • April 12, 2018

By Rolando Larraz It was over a decade ago when I was admitted to Valley Hospital, one of the oldest hospitals in our city; back then everything, including Valley Hospital, was old — so old that on the door of every patient’s room was a sign reminding visitors not to smoke in the room. Everyone asked me the same question about my choice of hospital, and I repeated the same thing to everyone who came to see me: the[…]

Letter to Editor – Kudos to the Tribune

  • August 31, 2017

Kudos to the Tribune for affirming that that all animals deserve humane treatment. (“Are not animals living creatures that deserve decent treatment?” Aug 9, 2017). To set the record straight though, the so-called “Humane Farming Association” has refused to support legislative campaigns that help animals — like those seeking to ban the cruel practice of locking calves in veal crates, hens in battery cages and pigs in gestation crates. The group’s even refused to support[…]

Letter to Editors – Not Jibing with Reality

  • August 31, 2017

Thank you for your excellent, well-written article. We are so grateful for your so eloquently getting the word out on these important issues. The letter was sent to you by someone who is clearly directly connected to HSUS and who is just parroting HSUS’s usual defamatory statements. Her (HSUS’s) facetious assertions do not jibe with what you have seen on our website, in our literature, and elsewhere. More to the point, they do not jibe[…]

A Win-Win Situation

  • March 23, 2017

They tell me that professional football is coming to Las Vegas via Oakland California… yep, they say the Oakland Raiders will become the Las Vegas Raiders. As far as I’m concerned that’s a win-win for everyone. Having Professional Football in Las Vegas will add a jewel into the crown of Las Vegas Sports where the city has been dubbed as the boxing capital of the world filling most hotel rooms with every championship fight. The[…]

  • October 12, 2016

Date: October 1, 2016 To: Internal Affairs, Office of the Sheriff, Health and Safety, Records, Public Information Office, Legal Section. From: Former Detective Gordon Martines pn-1533 Subject: Retirement Credentials To Whom it may concern, I just recently became aware of the situation with former Detective Scott Friedman and his complete exoneration from criminal and civil charges, wrongfully brought on by the LVMPD. Tourists targeted downtown Vegas?

  • July 27, 2016

Last Saturday, while playing in Binion’s Saturday poker tournament, my vest with my wallet, with identification, money and personal belongings, was stolen. Aside from the indifference and inability of the casino’s security to deal with the theft, my discussions with other patrons indicate that this is an all too common occurrence at this establishment. The theft took place near the end of the tournament, which had then been moved to the poker room from the large poker area where it had begun.[…]

We the people are fed up

  • February 17, 2016

We the people are fed up with the lies and deceit of the greedy politicians who think more of themselves than the people they represent. They are a group of self-righteous individuals who capitalize on every opportunity to benefit themselves. Our voice is being heard loud and clear. Politicians, you will mistreat us no more. We will elect a person who is not a politician and cannot be bought. One who is on a mission to take this[…]
